  1. Fuck them is the city going to give me a ton of tax breaks to move all my family here like I would be so stupid to ask them to in the first place.

  3. Tony, would you please add up the number and amount of tax abatements that the City has doled out in the last two years? Has to be in the hundreds of millions. Thanks,

  4. They'll all complain until they need a decent paying job with benefits to support their unsavory lifestyle. This is a positive project and will demonstrate positive growth. This project deserves the tax breaks. There are other, questionable projects in Kansas City that have been funded wholly by the tax paying citizen and don't even come close to being justifiable. Don't hate the developer; hate the pigs at City Hall.

  5. This project doesn't deserve tax breaks. The tax breaks are supposed to be for blighted areas. This is green space with Cerner going in across the street. How is that blighted? Should we be giving tax breaks to any project will demonstrate positive growth?

  6. The fact is there is a huge surplus of office space in the Metro area, mostly the result of tax subsidies. The result has been increased blight as older buildings become vacant. So we have a tax subsidy supposedly to reduce blight that is actually causing blight.

But the developers get to develop, builders get to build and only the taxpayer gets screwed.

  7. What a fucked city. Here is KC pulling every chicken shit trick in the book to over tax, over fine, over do everything financially, taxing workers and then giving their corporate pals tax breaks. When are people in this town gonna get up off their asses and do something to stop this shit?

  8. Has anybody noticed how many TIF projects there are in Hickman Mills. That includes Truman Corners which, while in Grandview, in in the HM school district. There is literally no tax base left to support the schools. The City will give yet more tax breaks to a big, moneyed corporation and the tax payers will end up paying in the form of a higher school levy.
