Dan Cofran Concedes As Citizen Association Honcho For Possible Losing Mayoral Bid!!!

Here's a bit of Kansas City mayoral race news might be a tad overblown . . .

Dan Cofran to step down from Citizens Association

Deets:

"Cofran tells The Pitch that he has discussed his resignation with other members of the board and plans to make it official some time next week.

"While I evaluate this mayoral bid, I thought it would be most appropriate if I resign from the board," Cofran says. "I might be saying things from time to time that should not be attributable to the organization.""

More than a few of KICK-ASS TKC READERS have noted frustration with Cofran after the toy train vote and this parting of ways is probably mutually beneficial.

Meanwhile, Councilman Scott Taylor would make a much stronger candidate with union support. And Cofran's candidacy is mostly aimed at stirring up harsh feelings among the 3 dozen or so people who still vote in Brookside.

  1. Cofran has used the CA position to run for Mayor - using repeated annoying emails -- for years. Fuck him. Go away.

  2. Anything can happen. KC needs sane leadership for a decade who understands the concept of steering the ship away from an iceberg not straight into it.

  3. Taylor is not running

  4. Making Cathy County Executive is first on the list, then Taylor runs for Mayor.

  5. Another reason we need to "clean our political house" of it's current occupants.

A city council committee on Wednesday advanced a measure related to a proposed 14-story office building on the Country Club Plaza.

It finds a 1.17 acre site on the west side of Pennsylvania near 47th Street to be obsolete, decadent, insanitary and blighted.

It goes to the full city council for final approval today, which would be a major step toward a property tax abatement there for up to 25 years.

Later hearings would determine the full extent of the property tax breaks.

  6. Yip. Imminent Domain = Tax Abatement's = TIF Deals for Developers. On the Plaza.

  7. What is insanitary?

  8. How decent of him to be concerned about saying something that is at odds with the Board's position. Hell, it never stopped him before.

  9. Single-issue zealots (aka, OMG! Streetcarz are BAAAD) are going to have a hard time gaining traction among the 80% of KC voters who don't give a shit about the streetcar project one way or the other.

  10. If this fucker doesn't lose that stupid looking goatee, he's just so much meat.

  11. I do not care about his facial hair. He is white and he hates blacks in government. Cofran is my guy. Fuck you.

  12. Anyone but the group in there now.

  13. You're losing six existing council persons that includes such bright lights as Russ Johnson, Cindy Circo and Jan Marcason. Problem is you still have dimwits like Scott "I like to talk a lot" Wagner, Dick "Sleepy" Davis and Jim "Let me Ramble" Glover. it's depressing.

  14. Scott Taylor is racists scum. Wouldn't ever vote for him under any circumstances.

  15. 10:24am You forgot Council-dimwit Jermaine Reed.
