I watched the live stream; it looked like a welfare rally; never seen so much trash assembled in one place. What a lovely sight for tourists spending $ on the Plaza.

Tourists are so scarce here that it is front-page news when ONE person from ONE of the world's more prosperous tourist-exporting countries (South Korea, where the average person is way better off than the average American) comes here just for fun. The only so-called tourists who come here are from Topeka, Peculiar, Tulsa or East Bumfuck. And they spend their money, if any, at the Dollar Store and McDonald's, not The Coach Store or Michael Kors. Too many Killa City boosters live in a fantasy world ... usually a far-right fantasy wold.

ReplyDeleteOne reason those people at the rally look like welfare recipients is that at least half the population now either is welfare recipients or people just a paycheck or two away from that. And given what's happened to education and health care, it's only going to get worse.
ReplyDeleteTake off your Republican blinders and look around a little harder. Maybe you'll get a more accurate idea of what you've done to the standard of living of most Americans. We used to be the greatest country in the world, a place where every typical citizen owned a house and a decent car and could pay for his kids' college education. Now we're a post-industrial shit hole, especially out here in the semi-rural Rust/Bible/Gun Belt.
