And yet again other document appears that calls out the questionable residency status of Theresa Garza Ruiz who looks forward to playing KCMO politics but might not have the standing.

ReplyDeleteDoes she even live in the proper County Legislative District anymore? Yes, she runs county-wide but she has to reside in a particular district. If she moves from the district that she was elected from, the Charter disqualifies her service as a legislator immediately. No Appeal.

ReplyDeleteThe IRS should look into who really owns the Blue Springs house that Theresa and her mom now claim as her mom's property (her aunt moved into mom's house in Raytown) but oddly enough we hear that Theresa deducts the mortgage interest and state/local tax deduction from Blue Springs -- as her primary residence.

If that is the case, they should change the locks on her office and passwords on her computers at the county -- she is no longer a county legislator.

ReplyDeleteJust the fact that a person like this can even be at all considered to run for elected office speaks volumes about the total lack of standards and expectations by local voters and explains a lot about the state of Jackson County and KCMO.
ReplyDeleteTheresa has accomplished absolutely nothing as a Jackson County legislator and has no ideas about what serving on a city council might mean except for lots of freebies, a paycheck, a chance to travel around the country on the taxpayers' dime, and spend time with her friends in the local amateur political class.
But, if you stack up her "qualifications" against the rest of the city-wide field, she really doesn't look any worse than the rest, including the incumbents.
And she might very well win.
The voters get exactly what they deserve.
She just wants to be elected. She just wants to be an official for the sake of being an official. He has nothing in mind for the public or society.

ReplyDeleteThe comments generally address Garza's dishonesty and utter lack of accomplishments in her current elected position.
Taxpayers depend on elected officials for a whole range of very basic services which affect their daily lives, and in the case of the county, assessing property and accurate taxation come to mind.
Garza, like so many of the other "politicos", looks at being elected as some kind of game that very much resembles becoming a member of a middle school social club, with no responsibilities or any accountability for the performance or results of the organization she and other supposedly provides oversight of.
It's hard to imagine that she sould find a similar job in the private sector, where she'd get to do anything she wants or accomplish nothing at all with no consequences.
Maybe she should give that a try.
