THE TKC SUNDAY SPECIAL!!! CITIZENS ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP BRISTLES AS DAN COFRAN CONTEMPLATES ANOTHER EPIC KANSAS CITY MAYORAL BID!!!
In early July, our TKC BLOG COMMUNITY BROKE NEWS AND REVEALED TALK OF DAN COFRAN AS A KANSAS CITY MAYORAL CANDIDATE . . . More than a month later Assistant Professor Steve Kraske wrote up a tidbit on the topic and was SMACKED DOWN BY DAN COFRAN in the comment section of his post.
And now for SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY(!!!), we have even more deets on the Mayoral considerations along with some new information on the topic FIRST . . .
To wit . . .
EXCLUSIVE TKC TIPSTER DOX: WE'VE GOT DAN COFRAN E-MAIL TOTALLY EXPLAINING HIS MAYORAL AMBITION!!!
Even better . . .
KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS TELL US THE CITIZENS ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP ARE PUSHING BACK AGAINST DAN COFRAN BECAUSE THEY THINK HE'S TRYING TO SWAGGER JACK THE GROUP FOR MORE MAYORAL STREET CRED!!!
These are some of the most actively involved denizens of our Kansas City political scene who comprise the membership of this organization . . . So making them mad is a MAJOR mistake. In fairness to Mr. Cofran, he has kept an active civic profile and worked for the benefit of this group so a bit of recognition isn't totally out of line.
And now . . .
READ DAN COFRAN'S EXPLANATION OF HIS MAYORAL BID AMBITION AND CONSIDERATION THEN DECIDE IF LOCAL POLITICOS SHOULD BE PISSED!!!
Behind the scenes, AWESOME KANSAS CITY INSIDERS tell us that it's really a bit of new found cash recently enjoyed by Mr. Cofran that has sparked his renewed interest in the Kansas City Mayor top job.
FIRST thanks to the MOST KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS . . . Natch . . .
Fwd: Citizens Association - Mayor and City Council Elections
All,
I am thinking about running for mayor in the spring. Over the next sixty days or so I will evaluate recent and past elections results, city issues, campaign financial requirements, fund raising capacity and related matters, as well as talk with community leaders about their issues, my views and my prospects. Of course, I welcome your good counsel.
During this time I will, of course, work just has hard on Citizens Association matters as I have been, including getting matters in place for the election issue forums we are planning with the Kansas City Public Library, before making a decision on running, if you think that is appropriate while I am evaluating running for mayor. I will also work on renewal and new memberships, if you think that is appropriate.
Regarding the forums, we had discussed doing the forums in September, October and November. This determination was made before the city charter amendments were passed moving the city elections from February and March, 2015 to April and June, 2015. I have discussed this with Henry Fortunato, Public Affairs Director for the Library. Henry has suggested doing the forums after the first of the year in light of the new election dates and not getting voters confused about the November 2014 election and the city's April and June 2015 elections. In addition, by going to, for example, January, February and March for the forums, we can have our pick of dates for the Central Library as our venue if we act now. I agree with Henry and had hoped to discuss this at our board meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday, August 12.
Thanks!
Dan Cofran

Dan has had some push back at Citizens for awhile TKC. But you are right about a lot of us getting angry at this instance too. But you should report that his tenure has been troubled to say the least.

ReplyDeleteThank you God.
TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! I DON'T HAVE THE GOOD SENSE TO NOT SLANDER A FUCKING LAWYER!!! AGAIN!!!
ReplyDeleteAnyone but Sly!!
ReplyDeleteWell Henry is out of a job now. So does this mean the library committee are supporting candidates against slickly Sly?
ReplyDelete5:54 comment is ON-TARGET!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteKCMO needs an ABS-equipped leadership vehicle. (anyone but SLie)
Just some of Sly's friends trying to discourage candidates. Run.

ReplyDeleteDan you have more support than you could imagine.
Go for it!
Cornel West Blasts Obama Is A "Brown-Faced Clinton", A "Post-Traumatic Depression" Will Follow
ReplyDeleteSubmitted by Tyler Durden on ZeroHedge.com 08/24/2014 - 17:26
Outspoken Union Theological Seminary professor Cornel West goes where very few 'thinkers-of-color' have had the courage to go in this interview with Salon's Thomas Frank: "The thing is, [Obama] posed as a progressive and turned out to be counterfeit. We ended up with a Wall Street presidency, a drone presidency, a national security presidency. The torturers go free. The Wall Street executives go free... we ended up with a brown-faced Clinton. Another opportunist. Another neoliberal opportunist... So you got low-quality black leadership. Al Sharpton is who? He’s a cheerleader for Obama... Eric Holder won’t touch the Wall Street executives; they’re his friends... I think a post-Obama America is an America in post-traumatic depression."
I take it Tony doesn't like him judging from that Picture.
ReplyDeleteAnyone but Sly. But there are many more viable candidates - hell, Frank White should go for it and resign from the legislature. Once he's elected. We are really done with this idiotic self-centered asshole known as Sly James.
ReplyDeleteSly james wins re-election easily.
ReplyDeleteNo, he does NOT. Corridor folks are done with him, and that's who decides the mayor.
ReplyDeleteIf he will fire Troy Schulte, I will vote for him.
ReplyDeleteDan is not the right fit.
ReplyDeleteThe plot thickens...
ReplyDeleteI think TKC likes Dan just fine. anything beats another term of sly's B.S.
ReplyDeleteSly's a bully. WE do not need a bully in the Mayor's office.
ReplyDeleteSly is vulnerable. This is Dan's chance as nobody else is stepping up to run ala Clinton v. Bush in 90 when everyone thought Bush was unbeatable. Sly has some REAL skeletons that have not even begun to be discussed. When they come out, Cofran will have a real chance to win this.
ReplyDeleteThe heavies and money in this town won't let another reformer ever get close enough to 29th floor. 4 more years and a million bucks thrown into re election. Bank on it
ReplyDeleteDouble that. When a real candidate emerges.
ReplyDeleteI like Dan's chances, everybody deserves to take a political shot at Sly.
ReplyDeleteYou know the Mexican will support the Negro. It's a racist thing.
ReplyDeleteDan would be another Funkhouser.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Tony, only a select number of Citizens Association members received this email.
And this is where Donovan Mouton earns his revenge against Sly.
ReplyDeleteSorry 8:10 am. I am for Sly regardless - Donovan
