Steve Rose Seyz Kansas City Police Should Wear Body Mounted Cameras

Today's bad idea from The Kansas City Star . . .

Steve Rose: Kansas City police should use body-mounted cameras

Money line . . .

"If there is a police department in metropolitan Kansas City that could really use those cameras, it would be Kansas City.

Imagine how useful the cameras would be in cases such as the Country Club Plaza, where racial profiling or police abuse is sometimes charged by citizens. A recording of what actually occurred could be very enlightening, both ways.

Either the claim may be false, or on the other hand, if there were racial profiling or abuse by an officer, that would all be captured on the recording. The protection runs both ways."

I'm not exactly sure this is a great idea but here's what comes to mind . . . We're now neck deep in the era of digital surveillance as authorities and politicos push red light cameras and beyond and now police cams are the next frontier . . . Meanwhile, nobody really feels any safer.

  1. Here is a better idea, why don't the thugs and ghetto monkeys obey laws and stop looting and rioting.

  2. I agree. All cops should.

  3. Steve, I knew your Dad and I swear he was a good man but damn he must have dropped you on your head more than once.

Let me ask you this Steve the all well known idiot lets slap a cameras on your chest and make you wear it all day long and see how you like it? Let us see what you really have to say about things. Let us see just how short your dick is. Let us see how many stop signs or red lights you run while speeding all the time. Let us see how many times a day you pick your nose or fart. Yes lets hear what you tell the wife when you call her during the day.

Yes Steve the man always wanting to see done what he isn't more than willing to do himself. Go play in the street Steve your a disgrace to your family.

Talk about invasion of privacy by all parties. I have a better idea and lets call it the "Steve Rose I'm a Pervert Safety Watch". Lets just install cameras everywhere on and in every house, bathrooms, your kids rooms, every 20 feet down the road on both sides of the street sure don't want to miss anything here do we? Lets make it safe for us all from all the bogey men in the world.

Guess what Stevie it ain't the cops I worry about. It ain't the cops I have all the guns in my house for. It ain't because of the cops I have a CCW. No numb nuts it's the crooks and thugs that I have all these guns for. You're just like all the anti gun nuts lets take the guns away from the good people while the bad people have theirs.

So Stevie when are you going to admit in writing in that rag you work for that the Negro population is whats out of control and needs to be dealt with. That drunks and crooks have no rights ever in their life after breaking the law. Bruno is a good place to start tell the world how guys like him are just good boys never meaning any harm as they get blinding drunk while kicking, hitting and stomping on people in life. You won't because you're a pussy that's why.

  4. Yes lets spend more money while ignoring the real truth of the real issues. More prisons and tougher laws and less revolving door tactics. You think these crooks care about that fucking camera, hell no, do cameras keep crooks from robbing banks, hell no just a fucking waste of taxpayers dollars

  5. Require polygraphs every 5 years to re-certify as an officer. The price is getting too high.

    ReplyDelete
  6. 7:37 what are you going to require the bad people do?

  7. Live feed from Ferguson....it's getting darker by the minute.

  10. Steve, over time two black men have threated to shoot me, one threated to beat me up, and a Mexican threatened to cut me.

But no cop has ever either threatened to shoot me or cut me.

    So shut you stupid mouth.

  11. @8:12

    Smug as hell, too.

  12. Rose lives in golden ghetto so like he really gives fuck.

  13. I live in the golden ghetto. Rose is a fuck!
But you niggers act like animals, thanks for the live feed Bear! Worthless animals!

  14. 8:15

This is so common, if you are close to the black plague.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Don't forget about the reaction to the Rodney king verdict. Things are going to get even uglier soon. How would anyone know what happened to Rodney king if not for the video?

    ReplyDelete
  16. The police were initially opposed to dash cameras, too. Now, most of them love them. Because they help disprove claims that the officer acted improperly and actually help protect the police (so long as they do nothing wrong).

Consider: If the officer had some form of camera that showed what happened -- and if it confirms what the police are saying happened -- then much of this uproar would never occur.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Nah, it won't matter if there is recorded evidence as far as changing minds for some people. They have evidence of a strong arm robbery, and it has been discredited by those who won't accept the truth about Michael brown having acted aggressively. Can't do that shit with a cop. They have a gun.

    ReplyDelete
  18. It would matter to some. If there was video of Brown reaching in trying to get the gun. And an absence of video showing the officer starting things by choking Brown (as Brown's companion said).

Would it convince all? No. But it would help undercut. Right now, too many believe one side or the other because they want to and there is nothing to disprove the narrative they choose to believe.

As I said, this is what happened with dash cams.

    ReplyDelete
  19. There will be a forensics report that will indicate that the shots came from short or long range. 90% of the issue will be resolved with that info.

but NOOOO, there must be a rush to judgement.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Steve Rose needs a body camera

    ReplyDelete
  21. The only people to have ever pointed guns at me were cops.

    ReplyDelete
  22. So 10:24 if you would stop being a dick they might not point a gun at you.

    ReplyDelete
  23. For anyone who have seen the body cam video, they are very grainy, terrible in low light, that 130 degrees field of view is closer to 90, and after 8 feet, its completely impossible to clearly see anything. These are a terrible waste of money, and a bad idea. If you dont trust the people you hired, fire them and hire someone you do trust.

    ReplyDelete
  24. 10:24, if officers are pointing guns at you, you are doing stupid shit.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Tech aside, it isn't an issue of trust as far as I'm concerned. It seems like the police (and prosecutors) would like to have something that substantiates the officer's story.

Is there any real doubt that having a video (granted, one that is clear enough to see) would be better than not having it?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anyone else getting tired of the way the media has been covering this story? According to the media it's the racist white police force was harassing the mostly back people of this town for decades and finally it all came to ahead with Brown.

    I call BS.

If you continue to act like savages then don't cry when the police force or everyone out side your community treats you like savages. But that's largely what's going on.

The people of Ferguson are crying that a mostly white police force treat blacks in a black community the way they do.

This incident is nothing more then an excuse. Am excuse to whitewash the behavior of the black community for the last 30 years. All the death, destruction, ignorance, violence and bad behavior is being excused because a white police officer shot a thug.

Kind of pathetic, but we live in the age of Obama. In Obama's America's up is down, down is up. Left is right and right is left. Most importantly, right is wrong and wrong is right.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. I feel blacks need to be sent to a reeducation camp from the time their five to 18. Teach them how to be civilized in the western world.

Maybe then after a few generations we won't have blacks give their kids such fake African sounding names. More Peter and Jennifer's and less Shanana's.

Maybe then blacks won't get $1000 work of ink on their bodies before their 18.

Maybe then black women will start acting polite and respectful to others.

Maybe then black women won't spend all their money on Korea women's hair.

Maybe then there will be less crime. Less illegitimate children. Maybe less welfare. Maybe then blacks will want to work and not only government jobs were they can be lazy and never be fired.

By the way, anyone else smiled when they heard the Ferguson police force tear gassed "reporters" from the Huffington Post and Al jazeera?

    ReplyDelete
  27. The last person in the world I'd trust is a cop. It is their job to lie. It is their job to find a way to put you in jail.

    ReplyDelete
  28. 12:22 is another idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yes, 1222 is a complete fucking moron. I'll bet when shit hits the fan, 12222 would be the first to get on the phone and call 911 for his/her pussy ass self.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Did anyone of those posting comments actually read the editorial? Steve Rose is advocating the cameras as documentation of officers' actions. If the officer in Ferguson had worn a camera, if the camera had filmed wrongdoing by the shooting victim, and if the camera footage were viewable, we would know the facts rather than be debating them a week after the event.

Why is this a bad idea? At $800 per camera, it's a lot cheaper than what's been going on in Ferguson the past week.

    ReplyDelete
  31. No 8:51 you didn't read this, "You think these crooks care about that fucking camera, hell no, do cameras keep crooks from robbing banks, hell no just a fucking waste of taxpayers dollars" and you didn't read what 10:55 said either but it sure didn't stop you from making a stupid comment.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Okay so two rinky-dink Kansas departments wear cameras, so KCPD should? First off, there's a money issue...you'd be buying a thousand cameras, not like 20, next why does only KCPD have to wear them? What about Overland Park, Prairie Village, Leawood, Olathe, KCK? Since you love Johnson County so much and never come over to Missouri, save your idiotic opinions for issues in Kansas.

    ReplyDelete
  33. We should all chip in to get Steve Rose a ball gag and a body camera. The body camera we can shove up his Ass and the ball gag.....well we can shove that up his Ass too.

    ReplyDelete
  34. 9:40: That's quite a well thought out input. I guess you know what you can put it in.

And you still didn't say why you thought it would be a bad idea. Of course it doesn't look like you and thought have much in common.
