Here's a Monday quick look at how a small city in Missouri is attempting to pull back from the brink of destruction . . . And the Gov. is attempting to win back his credibility after initial fumbling of a volatile situation . . .
Missouri's governor ordered the National Guard to Ferguson early Monday.
"Given these deliberate, coordinated and intensifying violent attacks on lives and property in Ferguson, I am directing the highly capable men and women of the Missouri National Guard ... in restoring peace and order to this community," Gov. Jay Nixon said in a statement.
One person was shot at 8:25 p.m., and eight people with guns were reported in what Capt. Ron Johnson of Missouri Highway Patro characterized as organized, premeditated acts of violence by some wanting to take advantage of the situation.

ReplyDelete6:56 AM - When under attack, police (and you too, if you have the wherewithal to defend yourself) do not shoot to injure or count the rounds during the attack. You shoot until the threat ends or you are out of ammo, whichever comes first. The perp in this case is a 6'4", nearly 300 lb. young man.
ReplyDeleteIt is remarkable how ignorant the press is (or, as part of the Liberal narrative they feign this ignorance to perpetuate the myth of "shoot-to-wound") as well as much of the public when it comes to the realities of a gunfight. It's not a videogame, nor is it the dramatic bullshit you see in the fantasyland of Hollywood. Gunshots do not send people flying backward a few feet - the physics of that are impossible - as the shooter would be thrown back even further from recoil if a round packed that kind of punch. Most gunshot wounds, even those which are fatal do not cause instant death or disablement either. An adrenaline-pumped assailant (and/or drugged-up) can run through a hail of impacting bullets at you. The rule of thumb is that any assailant within seven yards of you can do great harm or take your life with you having insufficient time to react. Twenty-one feet. That distance can be covered im mere seconds by a person with a knife, club, bat, or the fists of a big goddamned SOB like Saint Michael Brown Of The Swisher Blunt Teddybear Church Choirboy League Of Perpetual Innocence.
The fact is that the threat is only over when the subject is down or surrenders fully. In order to achieve best results with a handgun as your defense weapon it is critical to aim for "center-of-mass". Again, the real world is not Hollywood and you aren't going to be drawing happy faces with your shots like Mel Gibson did in that ridiculous film. You aim to center-of-mass because your focus in a crisis of this sort will not be the same as at the practice range and you want the shots to impact where it counts to end the threat as soon as possible.
I suspect when the full details of the shooting are released it will be revealed that there were more than six shots fired. The recent revelation of four to the arm and two to the head only indicate what rounds impacted the assailant. The officer likely fired more that missed the target - the shots to the arm are a likely indicator of that as that is not an aim point anyone trains for - they would have had little immediate effect, even with chest penetration to the lung (as much of the "deposit" energy would have been expended in the penetration of the arm). The nature of the head wounds suggest a head-forward posture which is very common in a "bull-rush" assault.
Our instant gratification rush-to-judgment society needs to wait for the investigation to be concluded before passing judgment on the police officer involved.
What is happening in Ferguson, MO. IS a travesty of justice, it's just not the supposed one the mob or the liberal media is using as an excuse to perpetrate the real one.

My point was that a body camera would have given everyone an opportunity to know objectively what happened, and the Ferguson police force has already bought these cameras--they've just chosen not to use them.
