We don't like being cursed at but we responded with our usual grace and politely asked for further detail . . .

Thinking about this and there's a presumption here that any individual topic is disparaging to a whole race of people . . . That's a bold, casual assumption of unanimity . . . Then again, I don't get along with ANYBODY. On a more serious level, we explained that provocation on EVERY topic was part of good writing and a good starting point for further discussion . . . Our answer wasn't appreciated . . .
"Whatever, man. Why not take the time and talk about how the police shot and killed a 17 year old unarmed black teenager 10 times who had his hands up and then left his body in the street for 4 hrs. But you would rather talk about how blacks are rioting and supposedly asking for violence which isn't true, why not report that and be "fair and balanced"?"
Good points all . . . And that's why I noted the comment. This is a new media era and even consumers need to grow accustomed to the new normal. It's not about telling people what to write, it's about sharing opinion, information and ideas that's changing the world via digital media. Don't like something? Write something else or offer another idea . . . The very best and most KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS already know this . . . All of the people we talk to and communicate with don't demand that I write anything, they simply offer their perspective, share a bit of info or communicate a new way to look at a topic.
This blog isn't about hateration of any sort . . . But TKC is smart enough to know that delving into any racial debate is simply a losing argument . . . Accusing people of racism is fun and often hilarious but the more important work is defending the 1ST AMENDMENT and that's what our blog community does every day.

I think that's part of what keeps things interesting and can lead to good points being made one might not have thought about. I appreciate that aspect of your free speech credo. I commonly see people here point things out as "racist." In the past I've asked the same people who scream "racism" to point out what others have said that is untrue. They never respond because no lies have been told. I've written things here that I'm sure some people misconstrue as making me "racist." The funny thing is black people (or anybody for that matter) is safe as can be around me as I don't own a gun or perform random acts of violence. Can the same be said about the black male? Hell no. Even Jesse Jackson admits as much. Nobody is more racist than black people. People speak of the Troost racial dividing line in KC. Sure it exists but black people want to be segregated more than anybody on Earth. A black person can walk down the street in Overland Park or Olathe at two A.M. and experience no problems whatsoever. Think a white guy could walk around 35th & Prospect at two A.M.? Hell no. At the very least five people would jump him, if not be shot. All of black people's problems today are entirely brought on themselves. If they would just go to college it would be free through numerous available scholorships. Companies are BEGGING to be able to hire an educated black male. Sorry but when you name your kid Jeremitrius or La'Genius Wisdom Williams (look him up, I'm not that up) their resume isn't going to be very good. The Middle West is not mostly the soccer moms and technocrats of Prairie Village and Leawood and Brookside. It is mostly poorly educated, lower- to lower-middle-class white people, many of whom still live here because modern life has passed them by and they really can't make it somewhere else. These people resent practically everybody who isn't like them .... the more affluent, liberals, Jews, gays, blacks, Hispanics, immigrants of all kinds.
TKC is where they give vent to all their hate, all their resentment. There aren't many other places where they can still do that in public. Because they can be anonymous, they tend to say what they really mean.
Ferguson, Mo., is a small town of mostly black people with a mostly white police force, which like most police forces, is now equipped with heavy military technology and weaponry. Want to know what goes through the head of the average white small-town Missouri cop? Read the comments on TKC. It's not pretty, but it's real. Even though self-selected, it's probably a more accurate sampling of the average local white mindset than you'll get from any "legitimate" information medium.

Tony I think you have issues about calling folks and entities racist. The history is long. It is not racist for people to want somethig done on illegal aliens. It is not reacist for peoplke to critisize organizations that hinder rather than help reduce black crime. It is not racist for people to see through this Bolonzo character who exploits issues for his own gain. As far as the Ferguson issues, if the FBI can't get to the bottom of it then we have a problem. I expect polygraphs of police and witnesses will bring a real fast separation of the bullshit and the apple butter. Just remember that if it doesn't go your way that does not mean the authorities are all racists.
ReplyDeleteIt is too early to render judgement, but I do have an opinion. It sounds like the police were overzealous and shot a citizen when it wasn't actually needed.

But all that said, this sad incident became a mere excuse to riot, loot, and steal. Most of those people have no remorse for the dead man. They are just looking for some free goods, and to have some vandalizing fun.

A lot of cop/thug incidents could be avoided if when a cop says stop you stop. When the cop says put your hands behind your back you do so. No the new game is pissing the cops off by telling them you don't have to do as they say. Total lack of respect and total lack of respect for the laws of our nation rather we like them or not. Going one on one with a police officer over your dislikes on the street isn't the way you make changes. The police officer just wants to arrest you for the laws you have broken then go to court and prove his point as he is being paid to do. The problem is not a simple as just complying with a cops orders. The problem is the abuse police generate. I have seen them strike citizens for not being fast enough for them. I have seem them get a subject in the back of a patrol car and call their mothers and sisters whores. I have seen them lie in court. Nowhere in te law is a citizen required to comply with a poklice officer out of control. Nowhere does the law give an officer the right to cuss at, strike, call names, scream and holler at citizens. Frankly I'm fed up with do gooders who suggest that the police have a tough job. You show me another job in the country that starts out at over $40,000.00 with only a high school education and then you might have a point. Police are required to demonstrate integrity. Many do. Many don't. Just once I would like to see the records of internal affairs investigations and the scores of cops who are fired every year and the public never hears about the bullshit they pulled. The way the justice system works these days, there will be at least three or four continuances, probably a couple of "failure to appears" followed by bench warrants and re-bonds, and a dozen pre-trial hearings. If the charges were filed in November 13, he was still a year away from disposition of the cases.
