Sad To See Lewis Diuguid Jump On Board This Nonsense: Kansas City streetcar expansion will follow St. Louis MetroLink’s success — eventually
Developing . . .
Isn't it overdue for Lewis Diuguid to have a fatal stroke and spare us the bleatings?
ReplyDeleteAs usual, Lewis should stick to his specialty topics of his prostate, fixing old chairs, and riding around on his bicycle.
ReplyDeleteOh, and acting as though it's still 1963 and always will be and we're all still waiting for opportunities regardless of behavior, working hard in school, or developing any marketable skills.
It's hard to believe the Star has let so many excellent reporters and columnists go and yet Diuguid sails on.
Now why would that be?
Lewis Dead: Good
ReplyDelete"When the St. Louis MetroLink light rail system was proposed, it was not warmly embraced.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds a lot like the streetcar expansion that voters trashed Tuesday in Kansas City. Yet, the MetroLink on the other side of the state opened in 1993, crossing the Mississippi River as it connected East St. Louis, Ill., with St. Louis and Lambert-St. Louis International Airport."
Yep. Connecting the suburbs and the airport "sounds a lot like the streetcar expansion that voters trashed Tuesday in Kansas City." Not!
Lewis should stick to writing about repairing old chairs.
Nothing says "I don't really understand how transit works" like insisting KC needs light rail to the airport, but not where people actually live and work, aka, the urban core
Delete"Federal funding option for KC streetcar may have left the station"
ReplyDeleteDon't let the sound of all that money being sucked back into the Federal money pit hit you in the caboose Sly. Waaaaaaahahahahaha.
Don't fret. Rex's buddy mayor slay knows that StL just moved up the queue for federal funding of the 2 streetcar lines they are planning in their growing urban core that has the act same density as KCs.
ReplyDeleteWay to shoot yourselves in the foot, rubes.
KC = Oklahoma City (for now. Of course, OKC is building streetcars...)
Next stop: Tulsa!
Hurry up and move there please, tell us how your vanity project raised the dead and brought instant prosperity and worldwide recognition. Don't be in a big hurry to come back.
DeleteWhat are we going to bitch about now?
ReplyDeleteUnsolicited bulk mai?
Ah St. Louis is going to move up the cue so they can imitate and copy every other streetcar boondoggle to ever come down the pike.
ReplyDeleteReal smart thinking there.
Compared to St. Louis' real rail transit, KC's plan is exactly...a toy train.
ReplyDeleteWe had a chance to build
DeleteLight rail too, and you guys killed that.
Fucking smart(kc)!
Stick with that 1980s development and the 19th century car technology!
You guys are so much smarter than EVERYWHERE else! That's why KC is booming while places like Minneapolis and Denver and charlotte and Portland rot!
You're so clever! Wonder why everywhere else doesn't follow your lead so they can have depopulation, economic depression, and unsustainable and rapidly ghettoifying sprawl!
I think one approach you haven't tried would be to actually prove something to voters with some method beyond dire threats of mediocrity. We're just not content to be your private game of Sim City.
DeleteDire threat and lack of proof is how you guys won, dipshit.
Delete"Letting people vote is discrimination"
"The streetcar will kill babies playing on the trolley trail"
"Streetcars are toys and also they don't work"
"There no economic development along streetcar lines"
"If you don't beat these we will buy you magical buses"
"Streetcars steal fire station money and sewer money"
"It's like slavery"
"Jim Crow"
"We just care about the poor poor people"
"KC isn't dense enough"
"No one will ride it"
"Buses are just as good only better"
"Everything is fine just the way it is. KC is perfect and nothing his wrong"
"As long as you don't build any transit, you will be able to fix everything else"
I just returned from a trip to Portland, Oregon and my first impression of the streetcars there was hideously inefficient.
ReplyDeleteMensa Boy menses all over the comments.
ReplyDeleteStuff a sore loser tampon in it!
Russ Johnson pls go. Why not try your streetcar flim flam down in OKC? I'm sure it'll be way easier to pull the wool over those "rubes" eyes!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you aren't gonna get the HDR government relations job huh?
I kind of like KC with out all the rails and overhead power lines a street car would require.
ReplyDeleteWho decided we had to be so hip all of a sudden? I guess the Northland didn't get to vote on that one either.
Light Rail connecting us to the world- yes. Streetcar to nowhere- no
If the Democrats really wanted a train Acorn would have come to town so all the dead folks could vote.
ReplyDeleteI'm all for the train if we get to tie Obama to the track for the first run.
ReplyDeleteCurious, according to the BJ article the cost of the two mile trolley is $114m, the original quoted price was $102m. I would bet the current cost is close to $150m.
ReplyDelete"You're so clever! Wonder why everywhere else doesn't follow your lead so they can have depopulation, economic depression, and unsustainable and rapidly ghettoifying sprawl!"
ReplyDeleteKinda makes you want to sing, "Why-o why-o why-o did I ever leave Nebrask-o," don't it? Try not to ram any motorists on your way home, MB.
Now that Lewis is letters-to-the-editor editor, don't expect to see any anti-streetcar reader rubbish in the Star.
ReplyDeleteAnd once again, it kinda makes you want to sing, "Why-o why-o why-o did I ever leave Nebrask-o," don't it? Try not to ram any motorists on your way home, MB.
ReplyDeleteYou know you fucked up when even at Louis is laughing at you.
ReplyDeleteNext stop: KC = Des Moines! All aboard!
As the Hipster Manifesto says, "If you don't like it, you can always move."
ReplyDeleteAs the reactionary manifesto says,
Delete"If you don't like it, you gnash your teeth about it and try to make it more like the prairie small town you came from that no one wants to live in"
