Just a preview . . . We notice that it has taken awhile for our friends @ KCUR to throw their latest Up To Date Podcast on the air . . .
We'll transcribe what we need later but for now, here's a hint . . .
KANSAS CITY INSIDERS WERE SURPRISED TO HEAR MAYOR SLY GET KINDA MAD REGARDING THE POSSIBILITY OF A CHALLENGE FROM DAN COFRAN!!!
Here's the word . . .
"Sly really went after Cofran on Kraske show. In the last few minutes of the show Kraske asks him about a challenge by Cofran and the Mayor was uncharacteristically mean-sounding and irritated."
It seems more often than not Kansas City voters are getting acquainted with Mayor Sly's angry side as election season draws near.
Developing . . .
Sly is a damn bully and has got to go.
ReplyDeleteMuch better photo of Cofran.
ReplyDeleteSly seems to be attending the Mensa boy school of argumentation. Anyone who disagrees is not just merely wrong, they're really most sincerely wrong.
He's just a groid and should definitely go!
ReplyDeleteThe Great White Hope has the Nigger on the run! YES!
ReplyDeleteThe return of White leadership can save this city, which otherwise is heading for becoming the next Detroit. It is as simple as that. Send the niggers home.
ReplyDeleteMr. Tony,
ReplyDeleteMr. Dan Cofran is a very knowledgeable gentleman. He understands Kansas City issues and looks beyond our borders to see how we fit into national plans. He has consistently stayed involved in the running of our city.
I hope that I can vote to him one day soon.
6:58 = boring. That all you got?
ReplyDeleteNo white or black "leadership" will save KCMO. It will take someone with enough guts to tell all the special interests that they are not special.
ReplyDeleteDan Cofran cannot stand the thought of a nigger sitting in the mayor's office and that is why I voted for him last time and will vote for him again.
ReplyDeleteWe never recovered from that nappy-headed Cleaver spreading that Nigger stink around City Hall. Now Sly is trashing the budget and stinking the place again.
ReplyDeleteAnd if any of you fucking liberals want to cry about my pointing out the smell, you cannot honestly say that they do not stink in a uniformly funny way.
Get a human in the office. All niggers do is fuck up everything.
ReplyDeleteHey, just look what the HNIC, obongo has done to the country in six years.
Cofran might as well design a yard sign with a swastika and burning cross integrated in the design.”
ReplyDeleteDon't worry Sly will start making speeches about what bad guys the cops are and win the hearts of the black voters once again.
ReplyDeleteThis Cofran fellow looks like a real pencil necked geek. That said, I'll vote for him. I don't need "change we can believe in". Just change when it comes to the 12th & Oak set.
ReplyDeleteIf Dan Cofran runs, he will be THE White guy who challenged the re-election of both of KC's African-American mayors.
ReplyDeleteThis is not to say that a White candidate cannot challenge an incumbent African-American officeholder without igniting racial hostility.
Nevertheless, Dan Cofran challenging Sly James presents special political considerations.
Of course, Dan Cofran challenged Emanuel Cleaver for re-election. At the time, Cleaver was a popular mayor who merited only a small amount of grumbling.
Cofran never challenged Kay Barnes for reelection – and Kay could have been beaten. Cofran never threw his hat in the ring when there was an open seat. Cofran never challenged the full-blown, wing-nut "that was Mark Funkhouser."
If Cofran challenges Sly James, he will be THE White guy who challenges African-American mayors for re-election -- and no one else.
That unique standing carries with it a certain "stars and bars" sense of tradition.
No, not every person who supports a Cofran candidacy will be a Klan member, NAZI, Birther, or other low-life form of White Supremacist; however, Dan will need to offer each and every one of them aide, comfort, and encouragement to make sure they get to the polls.
And if a candidate who stands in front of that rabble just happens to be THE White guy who challenges African-American Kansas City mayors, only bad things can happen. That candidate’s campaign will become the proverbial burning cross in the night which draws the attention of heretofore unseen tribes of cave-dwellers.
Furthermore, the shine of that burning cross will agitate haters who lurk in the African-American community as well.
No matter how much he wants to be mayor of Kansas City, and there is no doubt that Dan Cofran thinks of little else, I doubt he would want to lead a campaign like that.
Nevertheless, Cofran could not beat Sly James without playing that card, drinking that Kool Aid and handling that snake.
Good reasons exist to find Sly arrogant, or to disagree with his policies; however, there is not wide-spread disillusionment nor dislike of the mayor.
Therefore, Cofran would need the whack-job cult to have a chance. So, Cofran would need to wink and nod toward every den of the Invisible Empire. Cofran would have to overlook the nighthawks, goblins and grand giants who make blog posts and comments.
And what if Dan Cofran won after such a "blind-eye campaign?" That ilk of haters would have his number and he would hear from them over and over again. If Cofran answered those calls, he would alienate the White liberals who used to vote for him in large numbers for City Council. In addition, Cofran would do what Sly James has not yet been able to pull off himself – Cofran would make Sly James important to and in the African-American community.
“Tiny Duffy is right, “If Dan Cofran runs he will be the Great White Hope Candidate.”
And Dan Cofran will be all that comes with that moniker.
Don’t go there Dan.
That IS his character
ReplyDeleteI wouold hope Cofran would listen to the Whites for a change1
ReplyDelete10:00 a.m., I call bullshit on your analogy that this is a white v. black thing. Obviously you embrace that theory, but reality is this:
ReplyDeleteI don't care if Sly is black or white, he has been a terrible mayor, a rotten steward of the taxpayer's funds, a mayor who runs City Hall by fiat, and a mayor who openly disrespects those who disagree with him. He has managed to piss off voters with his streetcar scam and his constant push for more and more taxes when we are taxed enough already. He is an asshole.
Dan Cofran, black or white, has better vision for this City, and his visions for the City's maintenance and progress will be why folks vote for him - black or white.
People like you foment racial discord instead of focusing on ISSUES. My vote will be for Dan Cofran, should he chose to run, because of his position on the issues, not because of the color of his skin.
If Dan Cofran runs, he will be THE White guy who challenged the re-election of both of KC's African-American mayors.
ReplyDeleteThis is not to say that a White candidate cannot challenge an incumbent African-American officeholder without igniting racial hostility.
ReplyDeleteNow, what don't you understand?
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe the vicious racism expressed in some of these comments. Mr. Botello I cannot believe you lease these comments up. You ought to at least require your commentators to post there nmes. Hiding behind the anonymous tag is cowardly and chickenshit.

ReplyDeleteSome people like to stir the pot. Some people fall into the pot
DeleteAG Dick Holder said this county is full of cowards

DeleteChucky suck yourself. Niggers stink and steal!
ReplyDeleteIf you don't like what is on this blog go somewhere else
ReplyDeleteTime for Mayor Moon Cricket to hit the road.
ReplyDeleteDan Cofran compared the streetcar to slavery. Yeah...that's exactly the kind of rhetoric we need in the Mayor's office. Sly will embarrass the guy in an election.
ReplyDelete12:43: The streetcar wanna new vote hipster crowd are claiming the current bus service on the east side is good enough for "those people" and future "transit" spending should be focused on the under-served area between downtown and the Plaza.
ReplyDeleteAnd speaking of slavery, don't forget Eric Wesson's claims that his grandparents were slaves.
You know they do smell funny after they have been in the rain, so can you imagine the stench that would fill a street car after a few of them got on out of the rain?
ReplyDeleteDan and his financial contributors have to feel real good about his base of support.
ReplyDeleteWho is this Dan Cofran? I like the cut of his jib!
ReplyDeleteBack in the 60's a bow tie wearing ape named Magilla Gorilla had a show on tv for 4 years. Such will be the fate of our current look-alike mayor Sly. 4 years was 3 too many for this ape.
ReplyDeleteSly is definitely a problem, but don't forget all the hipster sycophants he surrounds himself to make him feel good, like the Emperor did who had no clothes. He really has NO CLUE how unpopular he is because everyone is afraid to tell him. READ TKC SLY, AND GET A GOOD DOSE OF REALITY THERAPY.
ReplyDeleteIf Sly was smart he would say that his wife wants him to quit. Then he could just fade into the sunset instead of getting beat. Cofran is a well respected person. He has backers in very interesting places some of which Sly thinks are his. There have been multiple voices at East side get togethers that are looking for someone who will be fair and beat Sly Cofran;s name has been mentioned and praised.
ReplyDeleteSly will go down 38% to 59%
ReplyDeleteAre those Vegas odds or something you pulled out your ass?
ReplyDeleteInteresting new photo being used by TKC. The last Cofran pic looked like a child molester in a prison cell block.
ReplyDeleteWonder if some $$$$$ changed hands or just a promise of "something "?
Tony got rejected when he tried to put the moves on Sly so now he hates Sly.
ReplyDelete3:29 was right on when he or she predicted the epic 80/20 spread for Sherwood Smith's sound DRUBBING by White - I'd say those odds are pretty close. Which committee do I start writing my checks to?
