The newspaper keeps playing machine politics as the celebrate really horrible websites intended mostly to give Kansas City residents the mistaken impression that local government is listening.
Localized online networks are a new way for neighbors to connect
Read the article if you want but realize that Facebook has much more powerful tools for quickly recruiting a hyperlocal following . . . But what happens in all of these groups is that people end up getting offended and fighting with each other . . . And leaving or not really working together . . . They mostly turn into garge sales . .. Which is kinda why staying anonymous online and having an KICK-ASS LOCAL BLOGGY LEADER (Ahem!) is important.

Mr. Tony,
ReplyDeleteThis scheme is a way for the city to avoid REAL CITIZEN INTERACTION. This city is pushing an advertising vehicle as an answer to mostly absent services. Oh my!
Working with residents isn't about just listening to problems that stem from lack of services, no sir. We are not fooled. By juicing up the hype it gives the appearance of action. The only action is the hemorrhaging of our tax dollars for foolish pricey trains, horsey arenas, unneeded rebuilding of our airport and top heavy staff in the Mayor's office.
Just wait for the other shoe to drop when the poor souls who signed up find their personal information in the hands of all types of advertising goons. Thank you City Hall. There is no free lunch.
eneighbors is what our HOA uses.
ReplyDeletebeing the "local bloggy leader" around here is like being the biggest cockroach on the manure pile.
ReplyDeleteMiss Sweetie Pie, who would you get rid of on the Mayor's staff? Which members of the staff make them "top heavy?"
ReplyDeleteHey Sweetie start with McGurk And Ashley Z Hand!
