Our TKC bloggy community was the FIRST newsie outlet to note THE JACKSON COUNTY SHOWDOWN TONIGHT . . . And now here are the FIRST impressions . . .
The 2nd District under-card featured a contest betwixt newbie hopefuls who want to replace Bishop Tindall . . .
Zachary Berkstresser, Alfred Jordan, and Sterling Brown tried to make their best impressions tonight . . .
Sterling Brown was probably the best speaker but didn't have much to say according to JaxCo Insiders. His answers to questions were mostly cursory, he relied a lot on cliché and always seemed pressed for time with a really disappointing "Vote for me, because I'm Sterling Brown" conclusion . . .
Alfred Jordan was SURPRISINGLY UNPREPARED AND INATTENTIVE . . . He kept have to ask for questions to be repeated and didn't seem engaged according to OUR MOST KICK-ASS CORRESPONDENTS!!!
However, Mr. Jordan did seem to stress the fact that all the candidates for the 2nd District were under 40 which is sort of a youth movement considering old school Bishop Tindall's legacy.
Accordingly . . .
VICTORY IN TONIGHT'S DEBATE GOES TO ZACHARY BERKSTRESSER WHO OFFERED A DETAILED LIST OF COUNTY ISSUES ALONG WITH A FEW SUGGESTIONS TO REFORM THE COMBAT ANTI-DRUG TAX!!!
Detail on change is rare for any political opponent but in this instance we appreciate the honest attempt at reform from a candidate who doesn't have a chance in "Freedom Wards" according to local political experts.
And now the main event . . .
Frank White showed up late and after the event had already started.
However, the love from the crowd was OBVIOUS . . . The crowd all but swooned when he finally made it to the stage.
Sherwood Smith was on his game tonight. He had numbers, details about his political involvement over the years and name-dropped a list of political and County insiders. There is no doubting that Sherwood has an extensive operational knowledge of everything related to Jackson County.
Nevertheless ...
One of the TV guys left after Frank White's remarks were complete.
More importantly . . .
Frank White's remarks were surprisingly competent and reasoned. He started off with a baseball story and didn't leave much time for deets about the County BUT he noted his local volunteerism and approach to politics from an community perspective.
Our KICK-ASS INSIDER gets the last word because he was the one who bothered to show up to the event . . .
"It was nothing more than A NIGHT OF PLATITUDES. Not a lot of detail from anybody but Berkstresser and Smith. Berkstresser wins because he actually hinted at a plan to fix some things at the County. I'm not going with Smith because I don't agree with Local 42 on most stuff but that's inside baseball. And speaking of baseball, it was obvious that everybody really just came out to see Frank White this evening along with a few politicos like Ken Bacchus and Quinton Lucas just making the rounds and working the room. Like I said, a night of platitudes and very little of substance being said about Jackson County this evening."

TKC. the election is Aug. 5th. That is a lot of time when some of these candidates could turn the tide.

ReplyDeleteFF Local #42 union represents the county prosecutors believe it or not. The thought of giving Cambiano, the mob like union boss more control over law enforcement in our county is scary. So a vote for Sherwood is a vote for more Cambiano control of the prosecutors.
ReplyDeleteCambiano is an idiot and he doesn't give two shits about prosecutors, regardless of whether or not they've been a part of Local 42 for more than 10 years. Their “representation" of the tank and file in the prosecutor's office has been a joke since Cambiano became president. He has no control over anything that goes on in that office. All of the ridiculous things that go on at the JaCo Prosecutor's Office are all at the direction of the elected idiot. Don't give her credit to someone else.
