Westside artist, Peter Warren volunteered to make two Little Free Libraries for the neighborhood - he ended up making 3. They are terrific.
One of the little libraries will be installed at Jarboe Park near the bicycle rack, a second one will be installed at Douglass Park next to the gate. We haven't decided where to install the 3rd - your ideas are welcome and then we can vote.
Neighbor Christina R has agreed to monitor and stock the Little Free Library at Douglass Park. Anyone is free to place books, stock books, take books. You can return them or not.
Thank you so very much Peter. These are such a wonderful gift to our neighborhood. They will be such encouragement for us to be a neighborhood of readers.
The WCAN Center is collecting children's books for the Little Free Libraries as well as for the children who frequent the WCAN Center.

ReplyDeleteOh gawd! Stop the insanity with these ridiculous "little libraries." Both sides of the state line in metro KC have plenty of FREE public libraries to serve the needs of the community. If you like trading books or suggesting titles to others, join a book club. All these oversized mailboxes are doing is junking up the neighborhood and attracting the great unwashed to come loot them.
