TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! RUMOR REPORT RAGE: KANSAS CITY COULD BE TEARING DOWN A FIRE STATION TO MAKE WAY FOR BIG TAX BREAK CERNER CAMPUS!!!

Right now we're FIRST to report a recent topic of RAGE in South Kansas City that's being kept hidden from the public.

To wit . . .

SOME OF THE VERY BEST SOUTH KANSAS CITY TKC TIPSTERS ARE WORRIED ABOUT TRANSPARENCY IN THE CERNER DEVELOPMENT AND TALK THAT A FIRE STATION COULD BE SACRIFICED TO CERNER!!!

Here's the word . . .

"Continuing rumors that the fire station at 93rd and Hillcrest in the middle of the Cerner redevelopment will be torn down. The city and fire department are trying to avoid this discussion until after the fire tax is renewed. Because this is less than 20 years old, so all taxpayers (north, south and midtown) get to pay for a gift to Cerner. When the fire department says they do not have enough money. Cerner will never provide maps at community meetings . . . "

Now, what's important here is that already we can tell that Cerner isn't being very up front with neighbors AND yet another confirmation that Kansas City local government is willing to pay any price to accommodate corporate overlords.

Developing . . .

Tip of the iceberg, dude.

They're also going to take out some houses too.

There's lots of shitty land around there that could be a great spot for a new firehouse.

And having to build one firehouse is a small price to pay for putting something new on that vast wasteland where Bannister Mall was.

Easy fix. Vote out every god damn city commissioner and the mayor. How hard us this?

This would not happen in Overland Park.

They are Councilors or Council people dipshit.

Fear is, you don't know the difference between them and County electeds.

Man, the IQ for this site is about 22.

Taxpayers are already on the hook to subsidize Cerner to the tune of $1.75 billion.

Aren't TIF's wonderful?

Shame on Sly!

Cerner loves free money

This just goes to show how little Cerner is concerned about the community. The fire station was moved once. Now it's going to be moved again, all using tax dollars.

Right on! Cerner cares so little about the community they don't even want to look at it. That's why they're building tunnels for their employees.

I have to agree with 324. I hate TIFs but that area is a ghost town with the firestation being the only sign of life. I'm sure though, Cerner could work around it. Why wouldn't they want those services right on campus?

22 would be high for you moron.

Let's get something straight - DON'T FUCK WITH CERNER.

Thank you (from the 25,000 people who will be earning there and sending their $ throughout this shithole town)

People need to get something straight. Cerner won't be doing anything in this community. They are building their own community within a closed campus: daycare, grocery, gym, medical facility. They're closing Hilcrest Road at 93rd street because they don't want anyone traveling through their "campus". That was supposed to be the sight of a roundabout (funds already in place) and the sixth district's first fountain but good ol' John Sharp put an end to that. Cerner has more money than they know what to do with, but we need to help them out with every little thing.

You are an idiot. Cerner paid the city for the land and the building. The city will build another station close by at Cerners expense.

Anonymous said...

I hope it works out, but this will be a closed secured campus. It will help the City some, and fill up a big hole. No one who works there will live anywhere near there. Not sure where that 1.75 billion is coming from? State and local tax abatements?

@656, link one reference to "councilors"

Just pull this crap out of your ass and call it correct.

Anonymous said...

8:59 is correct. And here is another thing that blows the fact that the citizens in KCMO dont pay any attention (or care) where their tax dollars go!!!

That station is new within the last 6 years, they built that station after the roaches chased our beloved entitlement FFs out of the Bannister location (less than 3 blocks from this new station in question.

Looks to me most people who are on this blog are not tax paying Residents of KCMO. Oh wait if you live in the hood you probabley dont pay your taxes anyway so I see why no one gives a shit.

I bet their will be a new taxi stand for Bill George at the new Cerner location, oh wait he has a contract with Cerner for transportation....who knew...Nothing politically corrupt going on in KCMO!!!

Anonymous said...

10:25 you too are correct but Cerner wont pay for it the citizens will you moron!!!

Anonymous said...

Cerner Sucks!!! lets get that straight, and if you work for Cerner you Suck too and if you want to suck your CEOs dick you will find him living out at Loch Loyd, so ok we got that out of the way. Kansas city will suck any dick of any major company that would want to reside here, with that said the city has to give them so many tax breaks, make fake videos on youtube on why KCMO is so great (when it isnt)so that the corps that come here can recruit people who havent been poisioned by this city to ever want to live here!!

That station is less than 10 years old and cost a fortune

Cerner has almost any tax break you can think of:
state Tif, city TIF, super TIF. No wonder the Hickman Mills School District is in such bad shape. With all the TIFs in the area, including Truman Corners, there are no tax dollars going to the school district.

Anonymous said...

Just a boring detail: Truman Corners is in Grandview, and thus the school district is Grandview.

Right now the firehouse looks like a frontier outpost sitting out in the high country. It would be a sad waste of tax payer money if Cerner couldn't work around it, but they would have to leave Hillcrest open between Bannister and 87th street.

Anonymous said...

The reason they are wanting to move the fire station is they want total control of Hillcrest. So you will have to go around their complex. They are also planning a dedicated 435 entrance into their complex. so we will have Bannister, Cerner bullshit and 87th st. Man its going to be a mess.

Muffy! Will you get Slyvester on the phone and tell him I need that ugly fire station moved for my little project. And send in the tea and crumpets.

Correction to the following:

"Just a boring detail: Truman Corners is in Grandview, and thus the school district is Grandview."

WRONG

Truman Corners is in the Hickman Mills School District. The Grandview School District does not equal Grandview. Part of it covers south KC.
