TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY BIZ OWNER RAGE OVER DAMAGE CAUSED BY STREETCAR TOY TRAIN UNDERGROUND CONSTRUCTION!!! WILL CITY HALL NOW OFFER COMPENSATION?!?

Tonight, let's consider a the damage the toy train streetcar has created in Kansas City . . . Last week we noted an explosion and complaints from biz owners.

Now . . .

TKC IS FIRST TO REPORT KANSAS CITY BIZ OWNERS OFFERING PHOTO EVIDENCE OF THE DAMAGE DONE TO THEIR BIZ THANKS TO STREETCAR TOY TRAIN CONSTRUCTION!!!

Here's the look FIRST for our blog community . . .

The second image looks even worse and like some serious water damage . . .

Here's the word . . .

"TKC, These are pictures of the water that came into the basement of my commercial building downtown today, July 14, as a result of streetcar construction. Since the project started in May and there have been various utility companies digging up the street, this is the fourth time I've had water in the basement. When project is done, will I be compensated for the damage done to my foundation wall? Will the streetcar taxes pay to fix my building? I have asked this question of KC Streetcar Constructors but have not been given an answer."

Now, like it or not there have been more complaints as the streetcar seems to be hurting biz rather than helping.

Developing . . .

  1. You Heard It Here First7/14/14, 6:25 PM

The underground maps are the key here TKC. CIty hall doesn't have accurate ones. That is the problem.

  2. And the project has only just begun. Prepare for years of collateral damage.

  3. I've not heard the answer to this question yet:

If the TDD passes in August and the streetcar passes in the TDD in November and the feds don't cough up any funding, will taxpayers be on the hook for the whole shebang?

  4. pretty tough to prove, with all the rain we've had, don't you think making unsubstantiated allegations is a little wreckless given all the issues this website has had with unsubstantiated allegations, mr. unwilling-to-give-the-name-of-your-business-and-therefore-just-trying-to-squeeze-money-out-of-the-city?

  5. Here is your answer, 6:29: It's not going to pass. But you should vote to make damned sure it will not pass. Vote NO on every City issue August and November.

  6. @6:49 I am the owner of the business. It was happening this morning while Kissick Construction was digging up the street for sewer work being done as part of streetcar construction. it happend in May when MGE dug up the street to move the gas line as part of streetcar construction. Prior to all of this digging I have never had water come running down the foundation walls of my 100 year old building.
The damage has been documented with photos, been looked at by people from KC Streetcar Construction, and supervisors of every company that's been doing work on the street. it's not difficult to prove at all.

  7. so why not go tell your story to a reputable source? because this isn't it, dude.

if you want to be taken seriously this is the WORST possible place to do it.

  8. 6:57 PM - Your business will be assessed an additional $17,582.19, due immediately, for the unauthorized addition of an indoor swimming pool. Your annual tax will increase by that amount every year from here on out.

    Have a great day,

    Mayor Slie Silverback

  9. Yeah, file a claim 6:57. 513-1313. Why take this through Tony's?

    ReplyDelete
  10. ....cause out of the 14 people that read the blog at least someone has been screwed by KC and might know something

  11. Dang, good will is hard to come by on this site.

625 is correct and they are called, as-builts.

Most cities that are over 100 years old, don't have this information.

I know it does not support your conspiracy theory, buy it is correct.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Pfft. No, you will not be made whole. Get used to it.

    ReplyDelete
  13. 6:29, the answer is no. Pretty clearly stated, widely and in detail, numerous times in numerous places.

IF the TDD passes, taxes and assessment CAN ONLY BE COLLECTED if the Feds match funds.

Also, can I collect damages from MoDot for when by basement flood due to runoff from overbuilt underused impervious roads? I have pictures of my 100 year old basement with water in it. That pretty much proof right? Any lawyers on the anonymous internet? Sherry? I know you probably don't care since you didn't buy a house built on public right of way on the street where I live, but since I saw you on the news and you clearly care so much about midtown and the poor, will you fix it for me, or are you and the filter queen too busy taking pictures of minor water leaks in 100 year old midwestern stone basements?

  14. Just more actual proof this boondoggle has been rushed, hastily slapped together, we're now seeing the beginning of shoddy workmanship as the standard, and is totally and completely flawed.

  15. Get Sly staffers in here to spew more self serving bullshit. Why don't ya 6:49PM

I love it when Sly's staffers try act like real people in here.

  17. 7:40 without a shadow of a doubt is Rusty-kun. Russ boy, why don't you join your boy Scotty Hall and go canvasing for votes out at 23rd and Prospect? You do care so much about the 3rd that you've devoted your klowncil career to developing the east side right??????

  18. Watch out when all these contractors screw up the work, not to standard or specification and it has to be torn up and redone. I've see this happen regularly in KCMO on infrastructure work of this nature.

    ReplyDelete
  19. No, you're fucked, just like the rest of the white people on this glorious town.

    ReplyDelete
  20. well it's a little late now to go to a reputable news source. you'll just get hung up on...

    good job

    ReplyDelete
  21. You ain't gonna get a fucking wooden nickel, my friend. That money train don't stop at your station.

    ReplyDelete
  22. The same guy who constantly complains about all the money spent on "underused roads" must not own a car or get out much if he does.
Try I-70 rush hour or I-435 in Johnson County pretty much any time of day.
Maybe sterile and human-unfriendly downtown KCMO is your millenial nirvana, but you really have to introduce at least a modicum of reality into your comments.
And the city will be scouring every account and reducing spending on neighborhoods and basic services just to try to pay the bills for the original Main Street line.
The financing scheme is becoming more and more complicated for one simple reason:
There's NEVER been enough money generated by the original TDD and the scramble to raise taxes even more and in more parts of the city will continue whetehr the feds pony up or not.

  23. Ist Russ is a #1 dick.
2nd, the conspiracy theorists look stupid.

  24. 8:12 PM...Said it all. He is a true prophet.

What he said....the white people are fucked in this town...straight doo doo folks...

    KC...All Negro...All da Time.

  25. I'm guessing the anonymous business owner is whiny old Sue Burke?

    ReplyDelete
  26. The sewer and water mains are being replaced. Those poor business owners receiving that benefit. They are going to miss setting a new record for pipe bursts every year. I have trouble believing that the owner of the business is being ignored.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Rage? Who? Name the businesses! Bullshit

    ReplyDelete
  28. Shoddy-Careless Workmanship

Bolt down your wallets property and business owners, and taxpayers.

    ReplyDelete
  29. This is a consequence of any type of sub-grade work. That is why contractors jump with glee when they daylight on a construction job.

I am not about the train, but you guys diminish the anti position when you try to tie every conceivable problem to this project. The term vapid is kind of close.

Oh well, it's not like this a place of reasoned, thoughtful, debate.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Get a lawyer. Document daily. Hope for something but probably wont be much.

    ReplyDelete
  31. 10:21 PM...What a condescending asshole.

Here is a thought....Blow it out yer rass.

    ReplyDelete
  32. If condescending means correct, I will stipulate.

Work on the vocabulary. The GED ain't cutting it.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Maybe Caleb and his hipster friends will bring their eco-friendly mops and help you clean it up.

    ReplyDelete
  34. 10:13: Condescending pretty much describes the comment, especially the last remark. Where did you get your GED?
