THE TKC SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! KANSAS CITY URBAN CORE CONSULTANT CLAIMS BLACK COMMUNITY WON'T SUPPORT MAYOR SLY JAMES RE-ELECTION!!!

While white people working in all types of media throughout the metro seem enamored of Kansas City Mayor Sly James, everybody else seems to be having their doubts.

To wit . . .

THIS WEEK A TOP URBAN CORE CONSULTANT CLAIMS KANSAS CITY'S EAST SIDE AND AFRICAN-AMERICAN COMMUNITY WON'T SUPPORT THE RE-ELECTION OF MAYOR SLY JAMES!!!

Here's the quote that should ring a bell for Insiders who have heard a lot of the same talk from many among the local, political elite.

"From dancing around with Republicans, to insults to city hall employes and then all of his time devoted to the streetcar. This Mayor hasn't done anything for the community . . . In a lot of ways, he has been an absentee Mayor and very few city development dollars have been directed our way while downtown gets all of the attention . . . "

Remember that there is precedent for a popular and even beloved Kansas City African-American politico to lose community support. A mere 2 election cycles ago, Mayor Pro Tem Alvin Brooks was a household name in this town with a dominant media profile and a slew of local power player connections . . . However, East side voters didn't show up to support Mr. Brooks and this mayoral effort was lost by a slim margin to an outsider candidate by the name of Mark Funkhouser.

So, while Mayor Sly's supporters are (falsely) claiming a 70% approval rating throughout Kansas City . . . The reality is that while Mayor Sly often speaks of his long-ago time residing in Montgall, NOWADAYS he can't really rely on votes from the area.

And all of this has inspired THE KICK-ASS TKC PLAYLIST for tonight . . .

Thanks for reading this week and have a safe and fun Saturday night . . .

  1. Mike Burke Round II? That should be the real play list Tony. You heard it here first.

  3. Sly James' popularity is waning in every other place also. That's what you get for being an asshole of a politician. I'm voting his ass out - and so are many others. He thinks his streetcar idea is a good one, but he still lives in the pre-crash era. Folks these days know the meaning of a dollar much more than before 2008 - and that means that we are hyper-aware of every tax grab that politicos want to jam down our throats.

  4. What's thia urban consultant's name? does he have a name? because if he DOESN'T FUCKING EXIST it's probably bogus.

If it's the TOP ESCHELON INSIDER who guaranteed Mike Burke would be elected mayor.....

  5. Sly was elected by just 21% of KCMO registered voters.
And there's no opposition who can come near to raising the money Sly will have from all his insiders, Chamber swells, and individuals and corporations he's shoveled tens of millions of tax dollars to, mostly for the streetcar.
Burns and Mac and Polsinelli, for starters, will do everything they can to keep the gravy train rollng, and the bond attorney community can't wait for another round of streetcar bonds to hit the streets.
In the last election the whole 3rd District produced a grand total of 5000 votes. And you won't even see Sly dump any money to Freedom or anyone else there, because the days of them actually representing anyone or producing votes are very long gone.
The "consultant" is making a last ditch effort for some Sly campaign money.

  6. The Parsons Project7/5/14, 8:56 PM

So it's not Jason Parsons because he is making good money with Sly. That only leaves to other consultants. A lot of you are out of the loop here and the rest of you know exactly who it is, looks like TKC might have been talking to everybody's favorite city hall dweller lately.

welcome to a 12th & oak revival folks. It's gonna happen.

Hi I am P Bear Hunter and I sucked Slies cock.

  8. Wayne Cathen didn't do shit for the hood and it didn't matter. If the dude in charge is black the uneducated east side week pull the lever for the black candidate no matter how useless he is

  9. The only way Sly gets re-elected is if the voters have to choose between him and Squitiro.

Can't wait until this fool gets voted out.

  10. It's a shame no one in KC has any vision. We need infrastructure, and rail – light and heavy are part of the equasion. While it's not the silver bullet, public transportation will be a great tool to fight poverty. If you can reliably get to a job, you can get your head above water.

We also need a major overhaul of infrastructure, Google is a start, but we need improved fire and police along with repaired streets and strong neighborhoods. No one here understands that nor does city hall. Oh well, I'm sure Sly and the stoned family can piss away more jobs and money. I wonder if our Mayor will ever figure it out that no matter what he does, they still won't let him live in Johnson County.

  12. KANSAS CITY URBAN CORE CONSULTANT CLAIMS BLACK COMMUNITY WON'T SUPPORT MAYOR SLY JAMES RE-ELECTION!!!

Speaking for myself only... There's no damn doubt that I will NOT support him in his bid for re-election. In fact, when a challenger emerges, I will be out campaigning for FREE for his opponent.

  13. Just those that have been ignored (and there are many) using their usual shakedown tactics. Mayor will come through with some somethin'-somethin' to the right folks and all this will quickly go away.

    ReplyDelete
  14. That's the thing, anybody who is paying attention to what's going on does not want another sly term. As for the support of the big corporations and law firms, they also supported the JaxCo translational tax and they lost big.

In the end, the consultants and the lawyers end up with all the money anyway.

  15. With Burke we'll just get more crony ed contracts, TIF for the rich & toy train. That's why we didn't want him. Of course, Sly was supposed to be different and we got screwed. We have to find someone for the people, basic services and infrastructure. Problem with that is the rich won't shell out the $$$ to get them elected. Until the people insist on campaign finance reforms we will just get more of the pay to play lap dogs.

  16. If the ratchet eastside vote goes against the mayor and he gets reelected that means that the prospective future mayors wont need to kiss freedom, inc ass. Just get enough northland, downtoon nabe loop and brookside votes and you win.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Oh, the niggers will support another nigger, even if it's the devil himself. Niggers always gang up when necessary. You know, "four on one, niggers fun"..

    ReplyDelete
  18. As long as eastside residents allow themselves to be "represented" by self-appointed self-serving people, things will only continue to get worse in that part of town.
The 60s are long gone, opportunities are there for people who work hard in school and prepare to take advantage of them. But it's always the same tired old "our fair share" and "underserved areas" whining and the city dumps millions of dollars into "projects" and time after time the money just disappears.
As for jobs and trasnportation, no one is going to invest in a high crime area like the east side and if the city really were concerned about getting people who live there to work, they'd be much more focused on reverse commute buses. There's nothing at all magical about rail transit that can fix high crime or unqualified job seekers.

  19. Sell high and get out before the bubble blows and it all comes crashing down and the urban core with it. Of course if you enjoy living in a lunatic asylum then Downtown Midtown Plaza is just the place for you. Maybe East KC can accept all the displaced people? That might help.

  20. Next Mayor will probably get elected by a massive turnout of 4% of registered voters. They will call it an epic landslide victory of course.

    ReplyDelete
  21. It's not that Sly doesn't like black people, it's that their checks aren't big enough.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I voted for Sly based on a PBS election show that featured both candidates being driven through Marlborough. Sly was adamant that he would help the residents clean up the illegal dumping, etc. (Oh, my was he adamant.) Lo and behold, once he gets into office he's captured by the hipsters and Burns & Mac. Good-bye Marlborough, and good-bye to my vote next time around!

  23. 9:25 AM Yep, there's not one campaign promise Sly James has fulfilled. Not one. Liars rarely follow through on anything.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Sly's greatest accomplishment is how easily he brazenly and flat out lies to the public, laughs, and get's away with it.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Best ever opportunity I have seen for north and south to agree on a replacement candidate. Ordinary citizens from all ethnic backgrounds should know by now that a mistake was made dumping Funkhouser for Sly.

    ReplyDelete
  26. James is going to get a second term. The local news media will demonize his opponent and his own people, blacks, will vote for him. Then Manny Cleaver will retire and it will be Congressman Sly James. James is an eggplant, black on the outside and white on the inside. A nice middle class Catholic boy, Bishop Hogan grad, Rockhurst University B.A. English cum laude. While at Rockhurst he joined a very white fraternity TKE and he got a law degree from University of Minnesota. Yeah, he really be down with the homies but he will still get elected because the powers that be want him as a front man.

    ReplyDelete
  27. They'll support him if it's "$15k" promised to all black grifters. If he runs on that promise they'll all line up to support him. They better get it in writing or recorded though - Sly is slippery.

    ReplyDelete
  28. 1:39PM Eastside "will not" support Sly this time around. Mark my words.

    ReplyDelete
  29. No matter how much money James gets poured into his campaign, it will not be enough to convince the eastside that he will not continue to "sell us up the river". He is the city's version of Clarence Thomas and even white people should see this.
