New York Times reports on Show-Me State privacy in the age of Obamacare and Oxycontin Abuse: Missouri Alone in Resisting Prescription Drug Database - "Missouri is the only state in America that has declined to keep a prescription drug database — the primary tool the other 49 states use to identify people who acquire excess prescriptions for addictive painkillers and tranquilizers, as well as the physicians who overprescribe them."

Thank God Missouri got something right for a change. Making it nearly a crime to buy Sudafed hasn't gotten rid of meth and tracking doctors and patients won't get rid of oxy abuse. And who decides a doctor is over-prescribing? Wait until you're in pain and your doctor is afraid to give you pain pills because he might go over some arbitrary limit. I'm sick of trying to protect people from themselves and screwing with people who can manage their lives just fine. Unrestrict it all and spend the law-enforcement dollars on drug treatment so it's always available when someone needs it. Leave the rest of us alone.

ReplyDeleteMissouri is right in this. Here is the Federal Government releasing tens of thousands of drug offenders while on the other hand it wants to take average citizens with a problem and turn them into felons at a cost of billions to tax payers. FUCK UNCLE SAM!!!
