SHOCK!!! CITIZENS ASSOCIATION STALLS ON TOY TRAIN STREETCAR ENDORSEMENT AND KANSAS CITY INSIDER OFFERS EXCLUSIVE DEFENSE OF HONCHO DAN COFRAN!!!

The Kansas City silly season is kicking into high gear as The Citizen Association toy train collaboration seems to have stalled amid infighting among the membership REPORTED FIRST ON TKC seems to be ROCKING the group.

Check it:

TODAY THE CITIZENS ASSOCIATION OFFERS WORD OF THEIR TOY TRAIN INDECISION AMID A GREAT DEAL OF INTERNAL DEBATE!!!

Mahony blog: Citizens Association Walk Away From Street Car Plan

Deets:

"The Citizens Association, which is generally considered a progressive group, did not endorse the street car expansion plan on the August 5 ballot. The group announced Friday it “reserves judgment “ because its board does not think it has sufficient information to make a decision about a complicated issue."

Moreover . . .

HERE'S A TKC EXCLUSIVE INSIGHT INTO CITIZENS ASSOCIATION INNER TURMOIL AND A SPIRITED DEFENSE OF HONCHO DAN COFRAN WHO IS TAKING HEAT OVER THIS DECISION!!!

IN DEFENSE OF DAN COFRAN

"The delay in CA publishing the outcome of the vote is pretty much standard operating procedure for us - we have discussion, debate, a vote or a series of votes and choose to take, or not take, a position on an issue. Based upon the discussion and motion that was voted, we agree at that meeting generally what we want to say, and Dan, typically the following day, distributes a draft resolution via email, and our board members discuss and suggest modifications to the wording and Dan dutifully issues revised resolutions and we may go through one or even ten versions until everybody is satisfied with the end result. Then with board approval the resolution is made public.

"That's pretty much how our board resolutions are handled after a vote. It may take a day or a week depending upon the discussion.

"Whether you like Dan, find him annoying, or whatever he has never attempted to rig or inappropriately influence or bias a vote or resolution. The fact is he does a fantastic job putting together and reflecting the true consensus of the board - - it's very time consuming and it's clear to all of our board members that his focus and actions are all about objectively serving the organization.

"Dan's not perfect, but he does not in any way and a never has tried to inappropriately or unethically influence the outcome of CA deliberations.

"The CA board membership is diverse and very much reflects the wide variety of viewpoints in our city and he's doing a pretty good job making sure every voice on our board is heard."
#########

Actually, here @ TKC we like Dan but realize that controversy will always follow the Kansas City leader because, as other insiders have told us . . . "A leopard can't change his mustache . . ."

Lulz.

Developing . . .

I don't think S'Lie, Mensa, Q-Tip Armed Dave and Matt, the going senile Kite Singleton, and low life Doughy Boy Stone have a clue how pissed off citizens are with this toy train deal. I could name a few other of these clueless jackasses also but won't.

They have about two blocks of streetcar digging underway and the thing is already roaring success don't you notice?

ts and cranks tend to make the most noise. Those who think it's a good idea don't bother to write letters or sign petitions or troll third rate websites.

Everybody loves watching the Redneck Squad froth at the mouth and devolve everything into TOY TRAIN SLY NIGGER GUN KILL LYNCH though. It adds to the community dialog and helps further the conversation.

So by all means do carry on.

So why are you constantly trolling TKC using multiple personalities?

No one is going to use it. The implants, transients, and transplants will split town when they bored or are offered bigger money elsewhere where the next fad-bubble takes root, and citizens and taxpayers will be left holding the bag for this train wreck, the developer and speculators abatements, tifs, and other insider and downtowner tax deals for the next century.

Vote NO on this Transportation Disaster District

If Kansas City wants some old-time nostalgia by reintroducing the streetcar, I suggest we go back a step further and reintroduce the horse-drawn buggy.

Not only would this create a lot of jobs, but many of them would be “shovel-ready” jobs, if you get the drift (stand upwind), while filling the need for a nostalgia fix for the others.

Horse-powered buggies require no expensive tracks and no high-voltage overhead wires, which are a hazard for firefighters.

Good for the Citizen's Association! I actually agree with them for once - maybe twice.

Genuine “leadership” would be helping the people with their referendums not fighting against them. Pretty arrogant to get elected/appointed/promoted into a position of public leadership/trust/stewardship and then spend all your time fighting against attempts of the “people” to organize and express their concerns and opinions.

5:45 should be the first comment on every Tony's Johnson County comment thread ever.

We the non downtowners and midtowners and southtowners must be forced to continue to subsidize half empty condo’s and apartments and the half empty condo's and apartments of the future in downtown until Millenials and Retiree's fess up and admit they all want to give up their cars and live Downtown!!

Anonymous said...

So you mean that they're going to allow the negros to ride the toy train? Really?

Anonymous said...

Nope. Next thing you know they'll be wanting subsidized parking as well.

Until August 6th all this has just been good entertainment. Luckily scrap iron (rails) prices are high and we did get the new water and sewer lines we really needed on their wet dream line.

Now how do we get our money back from the carpet baggers?

Light rail- Yes, Tinkerville Trolley- No

It's funny that one of the posters seems to think that the folks who are commenting negatively about the streetcar are from Johnson County.
What the great majority of people who DON'T live in KCMO think about the streetcar fiasco is that they're happy they don't live there and have to be burdened by hundreds of millions of debt as far as the eye can see.
Other than that, non-KCMOers couldn't care less what the residents of KCMO allow the vote of just 375 to cram down their throats.
You might think that maybe this arrogant fiasco would make KCMO voters insist that the people they elect to govern the city would actually spend some time on public safety, streets, stormwater issues, a decent water department and other services that they pay for and use. But a quick look at the next round of council candidates reveals a likely new round of the same old clown show.
And Sly's working to ensure that the new crowd is even more easily manipulated than the current crop.
Grab your wallets!

Why would any member of the Citizens Assn give a rats behind about what the owner of this blog thinks or says?

Why would such seemingly stellar citizens not practice civic engagement? Well, dear, except the third rate website tantrum.
I will not vote for the new tax. I suppose the SKCA will be in unison regarding the Toy Train. ???

8:55 CA will learn to give a damn about this blog as it is widely read by TKC's fellow Latinos. Chew on that, little man.

Did the city want to move some money from these people to build another emergency soccer field for Cindy?

GODDAMNIT YOU RUBES NEED TO JUST STEP ASIDE AND LET US TURN KC INTO A WORLD-CLASS CITY WITH THIS STREETCAR THING!

WE WENT TO SPAIN, TOOK THE TOUR, CHECK THE WHOLE DEAL OUT FRONT TO BACK, AND IT'S GONNA BE GANGBUSTERS!

If the Citizen's Association is "Progressive" then they should NOT be endorsing regressive sales taxes for special interests. Even Governor Nixon recognizes the regressive nature of sales taxes. Vote NO.

Maybe for the same reason you're here reading the blog, 8:55.

Can one of TKC's KickAss Tipsters provide a list if the current board members of the CA?

As long as Dan Cofran is and remains the White man's best hope to keep the niggers and spicks down where they belong, he has my full confidence and loyal support.

If you complainers took a 30,000 foot view of streetcars in the US, you might again might, change your tone, while maintaining your position.

I have lived in at least 4 cities that have gone through process, and in each one there has been a valid opposing position. If the "no" constituency turns out to be correct, then the advocates get turned out in the next election. Conversely, if they are wrong, they go away and move on to the next public matter.

This applies to manny issues that Tony vents on this blog. People learn to "steel" themselves against the hate and mean rhetoric expessed here, and in turn, you marginalize yourself. The only audience is other mean spirited haters.

If Tony wants to use this blog as an effective public policy arena, he is going to have to address the component of posters who are nothing but hate filled angry people who enjoy disparaging others through anonymous posts.

For the self loathing guy, that is why I occasionally drop in. Not because of the hate, but the hope that real open dialogue I'm a free and respectful manner can return to TKC.

The issue for many of the Dan Cofran's is that they share the same position as many of the haters and conspiracy theorists that don't have time of respect for any position that is different than theirs. Dan is not like this, but I sense his embarrassment when joked at by the vitriol of people that approach public issues with the hate and anger you find on this blog.

Anonymous said...

I don't consider myself a "hater," but I am opposed to the streetcar. As for people who don't have respect for any position different from theirs, I'd say Russ would be your poster boy.

Anonymous said...

Russ, and perhaps numerous others on this blog?

If you are not sure, scan the comments objectively.

Not many people accuse others who oppose their positions of doing so because they are being paid to do so by the Kochs, Singuefield, etc.

Especially since they are hoping their, um, projects will result in post-council employment.
