Kansas City honors the victims of tragedy and this town's history with an expensive local monument that future generations are sure to ignore . . .
Thursday is the 33rd anniversary of the July 17, 1981, disaster that killed 114 people and injured more than 200 others.
The effort seemed to kick into high gear with $10,000 from The Builders Association and the Kansas City chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America.
Fundraising advances for Hyatt skywalk memorial reaches 70% of its goal which is $383,000 of the group’s goal is $546,000

ReplyDeleteGo to the Wikipedia page for the Hyatt Regency Walkway Collapse and you'll see two companies share the biggest part of the blame for the skywalk failure. And a sad bit of trivia - the tragedy was outdone until the World Trade Centers collapsed. Good going Hall family and the firms they hired to build such a defective hotel.

ReplyDeleteYou would feel different if you lost both your parents at that hotel in 1981, because of shoty workmanship. They all are murders for what they were a part of. For those of you who say who cares, I hope you never have to two loved ones at the same time for something that should never had happened. You should think before you write your words hurt all who lost love ones that night. May the death toll needs to be in the thousands before you have compassion.
