Kansas City Blogger Bill Tammeus Celebrates First Amendment Freedom From Religion

Kansas City newsman legend and blogger Bill Tammeus: "Imagine what the shape of religion in the U.S. might be today if, like so many other countries, we had a state-established religion."

Comments

  1. Tammeus is always bashing Catholics.

And the First Amendment is always misquoted, because the anti Christian atheists who would lock you up if they could always leave out part of it.

You know, the part where it says that NO laws shall be made to restrict the free exercise of religion.

    How many laws again?

    NO laws.

  3. The United States DOES have a State religion:

It's called Obamacare, and you had better worship it and pay your tithe - or else!

  4. Well said, Buck!

As for Tammus, whose side is he on again? He seems to get a lot of traction attacking Christians.

Hell, his blog served as a sounding board for years in his comment section for some real hateful atheists.

Maybe that is why he shut down comments. He may have been worried about legal action is some nutcase set off by atheists who talked about "eating Christian brains" did something nuts.

  6. RE:
    But first, an amendment: 7-4-14

On this national holiday of independence, I know many of you are busy blowing things up and burning dead animal flesh on grills. So I'll be especially brief today.

I just want to give you the wording of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and to ask you to think about what it means to you today:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I invite you to pay special attention to the first part of that, the establishment clause, and to imagine what the shape of religion in the U.S. might be today if, like so many other countries, we had a state-established religion.

Then you might want to thank God (and our founders) that we don't. And that the flag you see here is not, in fact, our American flag.

    Happy Fourth.
    ...................
This would appear to be a throwaway article from Mister Rogers....er, I mean Mr. Tammeus.

"Burning dead animal flesh"? WTF? Is Tammeus a rabid vegetarian?

Rather odd that he wants you to concentrate on "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion".....while all the others--- "or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances"--- have been trampled upon and violated by our Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of government.
