The teaching moment here is the drunk driving is deadly no matter what the immigration status and so-called conservatives are simply looking to advance their silly agenda just like every other entitled special interest with no mind toward actually helping to keep people safe.

ReplyDeleteAlthough he obvioulsy should have recieved a longer sentence by way of the fact we all think we know he did it, the prosecuter didn't ahve the evidence to convict in a jury trial.
If you get a DUI and can flee the scene, even after leaving your vehicle there, you are in a much beter position to say you had a concussion or some other bullshit and the circumstantial evidence isn't as strong. There is no actual video of the guy blowing for the cops or walking in front of the cop car.
The fact is, blacks DO commit a dramatically disproportionate amount of violent crime. Blacks DO deserve to go to prison for those crimes they commit. Blacks are NOT in prison for ANY other reason other than they, for 13 % of the population, commit (And this is just the tip of the ice berg) most of the crimes.

And if the FBI stats for 2007 represent an average year since the Tawana Brawley rape-hoax of 1987, over one-third of a million white women have been sexually assaulted by black males since 1987 — with no visible protest from the civil rights leadership.
Today, 73 percent of all black kids are born out of wedlock. Growing up, these kids drop out, use drugs, are unemployed, commit crimes and are incarcerated at many times the rate of Asians and whites — or Hispanics, who are taking the jobs that used to go to young black Americans.
I'm just amazed that this guy did not march over to a weekend DUI checkpoint, sit in line behind 632 vehicles and turn himself in.

Instead, critics argue that this national tragedy is usually swept under the rug by powerful interest groups and individuals more concerned with elevating their own racially-driven agendas than addressing the real issues at hand. The Trayvon Martin case is only the most recent example of this grim hypocrisy.

A 2007 special report released by the Bureau of Justice Statistics, reveals that approximately 8,000 — and, in certain years, as many as 9,000 African Americans are murdered annually in the United States. This chilling figure is accompanied by another equally sobering fact, that 93% of these murders are in fact perpetrated by other blacks. The analysis, supported by FBI records, finds that in 2005 alone, for example, African Americans accounted for 49% of all homicide victims in the US — again, almost exclusively at the hands of other African Americans.
To put these number in perspective, recall that over 6,400 U.S. service men and women have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan combined over the course of a decade-long war fought in those nations. During the Vietnam War, which lasted nearly 13 years, some 58,000 Americans were killed — nearly 13 percent of whom were African American.
The article is a by an African-American professor and mostly it restates the obvious. It’s just that the obvious isn’t much talked about.
ReplyDeleteSo, it’s just fake to pretend that the association of young black men with violence comes out of thin air. Young black men murder 14 times more than young white men. If the kinds of things I just mentioned were regularly done by whites, it’d be trumpeted as justification for being scared to death of them.
It’s not that black communities are in complete denial about these statistics — Stop the Violence events are a staple of high-crime areas. But let’s face it: black America isn’t nearly as indignant about black boys killing one another or whites as about the occasional white cop killing one black boy, even though the former wreaks much more havoc in black communities. There is no coordinated nationwide movement equivalent to the one Martin galvanized. There are no thoughtful films “exploring” black-on-black crime the way Fruitvale Station treats the death of Oscar Grant, a young black man who was killed by transit police in Oakland, Calif.
And recent example illustrates how many blacks feel about who is murdering whom. Two weeks ago, an NYPD cop killed 14-year-old Shaaliver Douse. Douse was in the process of shooting other people, and had been charged with shooting someone else in May — and yet his aunt compared him to Martin. In her mind, the main sin was the white cop’s.
Granted, it seems a lot easier to do something about the Zimmermans than the black thugs. Protest profiling and police departments institute new programs. But black thugs aren’t moved by protests, so it can seem like we’re just stuck with them.
But who’s to say what would happen if black America exerted even half of the emotional fervor and brainpower it does over cases like Martin’s to thinking about how to keep black boys from going wrong? Annette John-Hall had some wise words on this last year. What kind of self-image do we have to assume we can only change others, but not ourselves?
But the question is where do black thugs come from? And the answer is that the African-American community has broken down in certain areas.
It has a functional and occasionally prosperous middle class, but the children of that middle class still pay tribute to ghetto thug values. When Obama hangs out with Jay-Z (sample lyric: Welcome to the melting pot, corners where we sellin’ rock), the message that he’s sending is that the black thug represents the black community.
On the one hand, we have ghettos where children grow up without fathers, graduate to gang violence and then shoot each other… and occasionally white people. And we have a black middle class that isn’t willing to break with that way of life.
I don't recall any collective, or even singular, outrage from minority communities over the murders of 24 minorities(mostly if not all black)in Chicago over the 4th of July weekend.The media hasn't really covered it either. Now, compare that to the nonstop dead horse beating over a singular homicide when a "Caucasian Hispanic" shot Trayvon Martin. There were no cries from those communities when a young white woman, Devin Cassidy, was shot in her head and killed in Westport by two young urban scholars. Here's my point, When black and Hispanic communities start showing the same level of outrage over the self inflicted genocide in their neighborhoods, and the black on white violence, then they can cry about minority vs white sentencing disparities. If you think most white people don't give a fuck about black on black violence, you are correcto-mundo. Though most wont admit it, they figure its better they kill one another than direct their violence toward us cracka ass crackas. As for the white shit heel who killed this man, he should have received at least 20 years, not for the actual death as much as for leaving him there to die rather than get him help.

Most Hispanics around here may be brown, being from Mexico/Central America where mestizos outnumber everyone else, but Hispanics can be of any racial group. It's a linguistic/cultural term, not a racial term. There are blue-eyed blond Mexicans, black Mexicans, Arab Mexicans, etc. You see more of them in Mexico City than in the rest of the country ... or here. As with Jews, who also come in all skin colors, there is a whole lot of ignorant and usually racist discourse about this in the United States. Get your facts straight.

White is more sensational than stating the obvious that the majority of Black crime is committed against Black victims. That's a story I want to hear about; instead of the usual Slavery from more than 100 years has kept the race down. No, it hasn't. Black clergy love cases like Traayvon Martin and the cop beating the homeless woman on the side of the highway. While those incidents are tragic, and I don't minimize their impact on race relations in anyway, I have to wonder if how Black people treat other Black people is a gateway as to why other races feel inclined to use brute force when dealing with Black people.
