TKC TIPSTERS TOLD YOU SO!!! CONFIRMED: BURNS AND MAC SPENDING BIG BUCKS FOR TOY TRAIN STREETCAR CAMPAIGNERS!!!

We were just talking about this . . . And now it's Kansas City news fact . . .

Streetcar: Engineering or electioneering?

Deets . . .

KC BIZ JOURNAL: "A subcontractor of engineering firm Burns & McDonnell will be paid $685,734 to facilitate door-to-door meetings with residents of a proposed taxing district set up to finance Kansas City's proposed streetcar expansions in the months leading up to a pair of crucial elections."

While we like more cash on the streets from a big company in order to "persuade" the locals . . . Sadly, if they're desperate enough to pay the urban core, we can rest assured that the toy train streetcar campaign is in it's last days.

Developing . . .

  6. $685,734.00 and which taxpayer piggy bank are they taking this out of. Or is being put on the taxpayer credit card?

  7. They can't even explain what they are doing! It's plain and simple electioneering, and it's illegal!!

We are about to see just how stupid KC voters are, if they fall for this con job!!

    1. More internet lawyering from the brookside minds who told you it was illegal for renters to vote, and promised that it was unjust for people who pay taxes to get to vote on them, unless businesses got to vote too...

  8. May 22nd 2014 Kansas City, City Council meeting

Councilman Ed Ford:"My concern is if this doesn't pass, then we're risking our PIAC dollars. And I'm just not willing to do that at this time. I'd rather wait six months and see how the people vote. I'm no longer willing to put the cart before the horse."

Councilman Russ Johnson: (A major proponent of the streetcar). "If anybody out there thinks that, if this gets voted down in August, it's gonna go away, I know 50 people that are gonna force you to move forward or they will move it forward for you. So let's not kid ourselves. The Streetcar's going to be expanded whether we like it or not. Because I know 50 people that will figure out how to draw a (voting) boundary to get it passed."

    1. If 15 brooksiders can deprive me if my right to vote, them sue to prevent midtowners and east siders (aka minorities) from voting, them I have no problem with 50 people starting a TDD petition. I live in brookside and I will sign. I personally know 49 other brooksiders who will. Time to take our future back from Rex's puppets.

    2. Lol @ 9:08; Brookside has literally ZERO control over your right to vote. Your neighbors didn't redraw the TDD; city hall did that. It's amazing to me that this logic exists; citizens exercise their right to publically express their opinions, so government officials who have rigged the system move the goal posts and some people blame the citizens.

The issue isn't whether or not you like the streetcar; it's whether or not the process is fair. If you feel cheated, that is City Hall's fault, not Brookside's!!!

  10. Voter suppression at its finest, brought to you by Sly, Cindy, Russ and Jan the Queen of TIF!

  11. So Burns and Mac are funding a pr campaign for the street car extension they just got paid 4 million on , before the vote? Got it. Sounds legit.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Don't forget it's 3 weeks after Sly and Jan gave them a 20 million dollar TIF for their blighted world headquarters on Ward Parkway.

  13. Work with Sherry Bryan! Use your creative skills for her and Sexy Rexy. God knows CK is stacking the deck on your dime.

  14. $685,000 for canvassers? Who is the moron approving that shit?

  15. If that's the kind of money being handed out at that level can you imagine what its like Downtown!?

    ReplyDelete
  16. All you need to know is that Streetcar, I mean toy trainz, kill children while they play. Innocent babies. White ones.

These are the facts. If you vote for the TDD, you are a voter supressor. If you get a mail in ballot, and mail it that is undemocratic, because it wasn't as hard to do as going to a polling place where only 8% of people vote.

If you have ever ridden public transportation unless you were on vacation you are a hipster, and that is pretty much as bad as a Nazi.

    Streetcars = holocaust

  19. Call 816-309-7208 ask for Twana Scott and tell her you can read and write and you want a job.

If you know light rail is a worthless then you could get paid $10.00 an hour to tell people the opposite of what Burns and McDonals want.

  20. The immorality of the supporters of this streetcar plan is beyond the pale. They want to impose regressive sales tax and property tax assessments on the poorest people in the City, so that well healed developers who already get every tax break imaginable can increase the value of their property. What a fucking scam! Fuck so called hipsters, they don't even know what one is. They are so fucking stupid.
