"About 100 people attended the Veterans of Foreign Wars-sponsored meeting at the Uptown Theater to share their experiences at Kansas City-area VA hospitals. Some veterans praised the care they receive there. But many others say lost records, denied claims and policy changes are the norm.
The meeting comes as an investigation into long wait times at a Phoenix VA hospital has brought into sharp focus problems at facilities across the country – problems veterans and their families say aren't new. A report released Monday says at least 188 veterans enrolled at the Kansas City VA Medical Center in the last 10 years never received care.
“We’ve been talking about this for the 40 years I’ve been active in the VFW,” says John Hamilton, VFW Adjunct General. “The stories I hear today I heard when I was a young marine sergeant many years ago.”"

ReplyDeleteVeterans should go to the front of the line for services, instead of being treated shabbily or denied proper care.
ReplyDeleteMost of the VA system should be phased out and qualifying veterans be allowed to receive care in their hometowns through the existing Medicare system.
President Obama, VP Biden, Cabinet, Congress, and Federal Justices should not receive federally funded health care until the veterans are squared away.
Uncle Sam has been fucking the vets for years and years.

It ain't gonna get fixed. I have not heard. One Congressman who has half and idea what the depth of the VA problems is. There are 130 plus VA medical facilities in this country and anyone who thinks the IG has investigated then in 4 weeks is dumber than a rock. All that is going to happen is they will throw billions of tax payer dollars at it and in 5 years you will just have a more expensive bastion of total incompetence and waste. They need to shut this mess down, clean house and start all over. The VA is a certified clusterfuck.

ReplyDeleteThe VA in Clarksburg, WV doesn't have any problems. Its just the ones in the large cities that can't handle the flood. Maybe, if everybody didn't want to sit on top of each other in the shitties, you could get treated like a person.
