All guaranteed to involve city incentives that will include some combination of tax-increment-financing revenue, free land or an allowance for infrastructure, and of course the obligatory 25 year tax abatement's and campaign contributions.

Without a shred of shame, trying the well again. It is in the developer genetic code, apparently. Or imprinted on the mental patterns, via positive Pavlovian reinforcement. Suggest a subsidy, they salivate.

blah blah... would be fully repaid over time in the absence of turning to Bankruptcy Court "by a limited partnership."

CK City Council will always vote for the theft of your hard-earned taxpayer dollars in order to give away big payoffs to people stuffing money in the pockets of the usual cast of characters.

Once GSA moves into Two Pershing Square and their 800 employees start riding the streetcar to work from parking in the City Market, which is what GSA projects they will do, where are those 800 cars going to park? Parking in the City Market area is already a cluster f*#k for those of us who actually work there.

One more scheme that will drive even more business out of KCMO and over the bridge to Kansas.

Always looking for an escape exit from CKMO these days. When this bubble blows it isn't going to be pretty. Take a loss now or a huge loss-disaster in the future? Which is worse?

Following the links from this blog, I read that the new development must provide parking for residents/tenants AND the same number of public parking spaces that the project would eliminate. Anybody else read that?

Meh

The plan is to give away the land plus incentives in exchange for a parking garage. I would bet somebody has already made a proposal and this RFP is just window dressing.
