KANSAS CITY AIRPLANE COLLISION

Kansas City airport incident that reminds us about the illusion of safety . . .

Fox4: Plane flying from Boston to KC clips another on runway

KCTV5: A Southwest Airlines jet backing away from a gate at Boston's Logan International Airport has struck a stationary JetBlue Airways plane. No injuries were reported.

KSHB: Southwest flight 4552 was being pushed back from the gate at Boston's Logan Airport when it made contact with a JetBlue plane, according to a news release from Southwest Airlines.

A non-artsy look at the damage . . .

More in a bit . . .

  2. Is it sweeps again? Or do they just need to put ten times as many ads on the website to stay afloat.

  5. Alright, I'm embarrassed for Fox 4. Two mistakes in the first paragraph! The airplanes were on the ramp, not the runway (huge difference) and the ground crew was pushing the offending airplane. Pilots don't taxi backward when there is a threat of such a collision.

  6. If this plane had been going to a city with a new airport terminal and an operating streetcar line, this would have never happened!

  7. At least in KC instead of throwing the broken airplane away, we can recycle it one piece at a time in the new recycle bins across city government.
