Viva Kansas City Mayor Tax & Spend Kay!!!

This morning the newspaper celebrates Kansas City's queen of TIF and City Hall debt . . .

Former Mayor Kay Barnes deserves far greater recognition

Disagree about her big money policy . . There's no denying her legacy and development-obsessed influence on Kansas City and our current Mayor who is still trying to live up to her skillz.

It's hard to see how much skill it takes to use someone else's money to subsidize a supposedly commercial project that then can't support itself and requires help from the tax payers for decades.
And there are far more of them than just the P&L District that are sucking bucks out of taxpayers pockets each and every day.
So vote for all the sales tax increases and keep that e-tax money coming.
All aboard!

"Let global warming take care of clearing the streets. Now what were you saying about that new project in Briarcliff?"

You have to be kidding. P&L District costing the general fund $15 million per year for 20 years. Mayor Barnes is one of the worst mayors has KC ever had, she is Sly's mentor, the streetcar and airport messes are only tip more borrow and spend.

Admit it Tony you want to bone her

Collison has to be one of the dumbest writers ever at the Star.

Tony, you illiterate, scum-sucking moron.

Kay Barnes did not "tax and spend."

The Barnes administration gave away a long series of tax exemptions. And there lies the problem.

The city budget is stressed because Barnes and successive Councils shielded developers from having to pay their fair share of the cost of civil society.

This anti-tax fetish that you have been jacking off to since Funkhouser left you without a freak show to write about has trashed your vision.

Like a blind-beggar with a tambourine you pound out noise to attract the attention of greed-heads and bigots, and call yourself a political blogger.

What's next? A Beer Hall Putsch?

Let me guess. An emergency spending ordinance is about to get slipped into the agenda declaring a one block stretch of concrete downtown Kay Barnes Trolley Trail Way.

Former Mayor Kay "Bloom" Barnes legacy failed when she couldn't get that rolling roof at the sports complex..needed it for a Super Bowl and Final Four event. (Surprise the photo doesn't show her wearing a "blooming" flower.)

Collison is not exactly what I would call a reporter with integrity.

Anonymous said...

Do you really think she concocted those schemes on her own?

More dogshit from Collison. Post more tits tony.

Haha, the rubes and reactionaries on TKC can't stomach even a mild article that doesn't confirm thier low-information opinions and circa 1987 suburban mentality.

Let the subrubanite teeth gnashing commence!

Tony's Johnson County.

Kay's Barn = Sprint Center

What did the doofus' at City Hall do? They decided they needed to abandon Kemper Arena while still owing major dollars on it, to build a brand spanking new arena downtown, using the same talking points currently being misused by Sly & Co. for the ToyTrain....it's about "economic development" and "bringing more residents downtown"...well...I'm still waiting on that promised pro sports tenant, and the city wastes how many millions a year subsidizing the Power & Light District each year?

FACT: Politicians like Barnes and James are brain-damaged psychologically needy malcontents who desperately want their name associated with building something...ANYTHING...new and shiny! Taxpayers and commonsense be damned!

RECOGNITION?? Hell, anyone can sit around on a fat ass a dream up crap to blow money on. If she sooooo saved out asses with her innovation why is it the city soooooooo sicks with her out of office less than a decade. You want to give someone recognition just find a politician who can actually reduce spending, reduce annexing to increase the tax base and figure out a way for a podunk Plains town to live within it's means without choaking and swindling the shit out of its owns citizens. Barnes was little more than a PTA mother way out of her league.

11:08: Suburbanites don't give a shit, Mensa boy. They're not the ones left with the bills left by give-it-away Kay and the minions who are following in her footsteps.

1:12, did you post on every article suburban troll-boy. Leave to a Kansas to think calling someone a "Mensa-boy" is a hilarious and cutting insult. Right up there with accusing someone of believing in science to you fucking low-info rube-tards.

Tony's Johnson County: firing up the entitled and inappropriately outraged white suburbanite Kansas obsessives for 10 + years!

3:45: Nice comeback Aspbergers boy.

Steve Glorioso is a tool for saying Barnes does not get the recognition because of sexism. He is also one of these liberal assholes who likes to cry racism. The late Rich Nadler had it right, he used to call him spaghetti brains.

Glorioso has made a very good living cramming a lot of this subsidy crap down voters' throats for decades. He's just another of the endless swarm of insiders and grifters with their snouts stuck in the public trough. They really don't care about what happens to the city, as long as their cuts are big enough. Just like all the development attorneys and bond salesmen.
And the airhead elected clowns get rolled every time.

6:07 argues like a 4th grader, but in all fairness, he may just be a low-IQ white reactionary with a childs understanding of the world and too much time in comments-section land.

Insightful, Mensa-Aspergers boy.
