ReplyDeleteThe gun lobby cares only about how many guns they can sell. When I was growing up in a household of 3 boys and a dad and we all hunted, we only had 17 guns total. Long guns, shotguns and handguns combined. I think the limit should be just 20 guns per houshold. Period.
ReplyDeleteMe and my son, 14, just have 16 total firearms, and that is plenty! My. Older brother on the other hand just has a daughter, but still has over 50 total guns, 50! I consider that excessive. He says his girlfriend should count, since she sport shoots. But still, 50? Kook!

ReplyDeleteWhat number of guns crosses the threshold into kookdom? Jay Leno owns hundreds of cars. Cars pollute and kill people. Should we limit Jay to 5 or 20 cars? Point being, there are people who have vast collections of guns. They don't collect them awaiting the upcoming apocalypse. They are often antiques, or rare in some other way. The problem isn't the number of guns. The problem is poor stewardship by some gun owners. I assume by "Gun Lobby" you ate lumping gun manufactures and the NRA into one big stewpot. Companies who make guns are in business to sell guns. So Im sure the end result they are looking for is gun sells. That's how a business works. It isn't your business or the business of govt to limit or sanction the legally purchased property of others. One day a collectors 50 guns is deemed excessive, next day your 16 is too much.
The saturation point on guns must be curbed. Too many guns out there, period. So maybe we limit ammunition? Or have everyone registure their guns. Big brother? Yes, but to many innocents die just so the gun manufacturers can keep on keepin on.
