Ms. levy describes herself as a multi-disciplinary artist whose work is about history, culture and identity. Her resume and list of artistic accomplishments is extensive and reveals that she has received Andy Warhol Foundation and Lilly Foundation grants and was awarded Kansas City Pitch's Artopia Award.
Remember that not so long ago our blog community raved and raged over her upcoming feature NV in KC.

"In "On The Seventh Day" a woman puts aside her daily make-up routine to reveal a surprising truth about herself and examines gender normatively in the context of the sabbath."

ReplyDeleteNever heard of her either. There are billions of people now days on the internet and social media claiming to be this and that. Which always without fail turns out to be a major disappointment 99.9% of the time when you check out their "work".

what I was expecting was a woman who spontaneously decides one morning to go sans makeup and discovers how people react to her. What I saw instead was a rather banal video of a woman applying makeup, grooming her eyebrows, contemplating the passage of time as shown in her face.
Quirky? The word quirky rather implies an interesting observation, and I can't really say that I found this interesting. Perhaps this one is for lesbian audiences?
