KSHB reports the latest in an ongoing golden ghetto grocery store ruckus: "Hy-Vee never submitted any plans to remodel or to build a new store on State Line Road,” Leawood Mayor Dunn writes. “Thus, we have not denied any plans for that location, since we have never seen any plans."
HiVee should just close before prices in every metro store go up because of money wasted doing PR in Deadwood. Fuck 'em let them do Walmart or Price Chopper

ReplyDeleteThey wanted to charge a fucking city sanctioned sales tax on sales within the store to fund the remodel....That would be stupid, upkeep of your store is part of being in business. Let them leave.....
ReplyDeleteI agree. Of course developers and retailers have been getting cities to do eminent domain for years in KC. There the tax payers get screwed by subsidizing the development. These cities are always charging tax payers for development of private businesses and special tax deals. Hell look at the casinos. They get in house smoking and are allowed to give away free tax free liquor to patrons. Who the hell do you think picks up the slack if not the tax payers. Then there are the tax deals we make for all these damn kids in the city. Single people have zero kids yet 2/3 to 3/4 of their personal property and real tax goes to educate and feed everyone elses' kids. Same thing with bastard child medicare. We have tax free days for school supplies and crap. Guess who picks up the slack on that? The taxpayers. And who picks up the tab for tax breaks and deals at those sports franchises? The Tax payers. So what business will turn down a tax break? Hardly a freaking one of them. When is the tax payer not getting screwed? NEVER!
