Interesting note about the adventures of Kansas City's greatest photog . . .
ERIC BOWERS IS IN THE MIDST OF AN EPIC KANSAS CITY COPYRIGHT FIGHT OVER HIS PHOTOS!!!
The images he creates are always in demand and it seems that more than a few local companies are playing fast and loose with rules regarding fair use i.e. they're using his hard work to make a buck for themselves . . . And so, Mr. Bowers has taken to calling out and, even better, sending SURPRISE INVOICES (!!!) to offenders . . . Here's an update on how it's going from our favorite photog . . .
"So far I have walked into one place and delivered an invoice for $1270, which I’m supposed to receive in 10 business days or less. There’s a local guy I’ve dealt with in person before who I’ve pretty much caught red-handed in blatant copyright abuse as well - and I am planning on paying his office a visit this coming week."
Look but don't touch Eric's awesome work @ his photo blog . . . And we offer this note as just a bit of insight into the rough and tumble world of local art & biz.
Developing . . .
As always, if see an image that you own and you want taken down on TKC. Just write to tony@tonyskansascity.com and we'll remove it ASAP.
ReplyDeleteFabulous, absolutely brilliant. thank you.
ReplyDeleteHe should be sending a cease and desist letter not an invoice.
ReplyDelete6:33 while to you that might make sense, money in the ole bank act and food on the table makes even more sense.
ReplyDeleteI'll take this seriously when Tony takes down every single image and runs this blog with legitimately sourced images.
ReplyDeleteUntil then, this nothing but a pathetic reach around for Tony's boy toy Bowers.
I'll take you seriously when you sign your comments.
ReplyDeleteChester, here's a kleenex. You might want to wipe all that cum juice I shot on your hands before you type the next time.
ReplyDeleteKind of gives a new meaning to "sticky keys".
ReplyDeletei have the same problems. My favorite response to date: "That's not yours, I found it on Google."
ReplyDeleteIt pisses me off when your kids go on the internet and download one of my porn movies too ....little bastards.
ReplyDeleteI want $10K if you use the Mona Lisa.
ReplyDeletePicasso says that some of those city council broad's photographs look like some of his paintings.
