"Kansas City, Mo., residents can expect to be asked to renew a sales tax in August. But meeting fire department needs may take more than that.
The quarter-cent sales tax created 14 years ago currently funds less than 14 percent of the fire department's $145 million budget. Personnel costs account for 90 percent of that budget."

She is chairman of the Belleville, New Jersey City Council and the mayoral candidate for the same town. She can be clearly heard in the background expressing that the tax rates are going to turn her town into “A F**&%#g nigger town.”

Tax in Kansas City is nearly 10% as it is now. Don't even try staying at a hotel in Kansas City where its nearly 13-16% on top of the room rate. City charges a fixed development tax of $2.00, then another fixed tax and on top of that the 13-16%. This is not LA, this is not NYC or any other big town. You'll find that people avoid Kansas City altogether. Even rich people complain about the taxes, then they ask for a discount on the room to afford the tax. This town is crazy. My vote is no.
