The VA has got to stop acting like bureaucrats and start performing like medical professional with a sense of urgency. What the soldier talked about is a very common situation at the KC VA. It is not just the fact that these lazy asses and their delays can be health and life threatening. I can tell you from my own experience that the VA will let you go on for months with pain and sometimes suffering in situations where a civilian medical facility would be right on the case with diagnosis and treatment. It is literally a situation of, "How many VA bureaucrats does it take to screw in a light bulb." The answer is, None silly, if you wait long enough the light bulb will expire and we can all go back on break."

ReplyDeleteWhat they need is a team of real Veterans who know the chicken shit VA games. Have them go thought facility after facility eliminating the dead administrative weight (and there is a ton of it) and streamline. I guarantee when they get done it won't take six weeks to get a scan when a blockage is suspected. I guarantee it won't take 5 weeks to get a consult when there is liver disease. I guaranteed it will no longer take 7 weeks to get a pulmonary function test done. I guarantee it wont take 7 months to get a diagnosis on a rash. I guarantee it wont take months to see Urologist. I guarantee when a patient shows up for surgery he wont be sent home and told they have to reschedule surgery because they are covering for a Doctor who is taking an unscheduled day off.
ReplyDeleteThe politicians need to quit making speeches and they need to drop a wrecking ball in a system that has buried itself in BS and paperwork in order to justify unneeded bureaucratic jobs while Veterans suffer.

ReplyDeleteFirst it was young white self-centered hipsters protesting "MEAT IS MURDER."
Secondly, it was young and middle-aged white hippies and hipsters protesting against "GMO's & MONSANTO."
Now thirdly, seemingly just on cue, to prove that yes black people also like to protest, we see a predominately black middle-aged crew protesting about something in Nigeria involving people which none of these individuals have ever met, or even knew existed days ago! Do you suppose that any of these protesters have bothered to read about the US military's expanding presence in Africa, in this case oil-rich Nigeria, in an attempt to control resources and blunt China's rapid expansion on the continent. Nothing like the kidnapping of innocent young women yearning to attend school to drive public opinion toward greater intervention.
So....we now have enough evidence that people of various ages and ethnicities can behave equally in a silly uninformed pointless public exercise.....(though curiously we're waiting to see if the Latinos and Asians strike next).
