Today's Kick-Ass Kansas City Transit Question: Will Lyft And The Internets Put Bill George And Yellow Cab Out Of Business!?!?!

Recently, an Internets ride-share service started in Kansas City among other places . . .

Lyft's ridesharing service reaches 24 new cities in a single day

I hear they're even giving free rides for starters.

Show-Me Institute celebrates this occasion in STL as well: Lyft, The Taxicab Commission, And The Level Playing Field

Now, what most newsies are missing and what insiders really wonder is how this applies to the company and the dude who holds near monopolistic control over Kansas City's Taxi Industry with the help of a French conglomerate . . .

SO, WILL THIS NEW WAVE OF INTERNETS RIDE-SHARING AND OTHER NEW SCHOOL TRANSIT SCHEMING PROVIDE EFFECTIVE COMPETITION AGAINST BILL GEORGE AND HIS TRANSIT GROUP?!?!?

More enterprising newsies can go ask him today and pretend that it was their idea . . . Meanwhile, we want to make it an open question and countdown to the City Hall ordinance where these services are outlawed.

Developing . . .

  1. Look for KCMO to do everything in their power to stop Lyft. Unless Lyft donates can outdo the current cab companies campaign
    contributions.

  3. Yellow Cab has failed me too many times. I have scheduled cabs well in advance to come pick me up at a certain time. They never show up. I call the company and they say a driver has not been assigned and it will be an hour or two. I hate Yellow Cab. Hello, Lyft!!!

  4. We'll need to provide free transportation for permanently under employed and unemployed Millennials so this isn't a bad idea.

Let me know when the Lyft IPO is so I can get in early, get rich quick and exit.

  5. They'll need to sell a lot of peoples private and personal information to keep this dog afloat.
