TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN OPPONENTS POINT OUT POPULOUS STREETCAR TURNABOUT CONTRADICTION!!!

Today, the Kansas City toy train stays on track toward construction . . .

KC Streetcar Authority selects Herzog Transit as system operator

In the meantime . . .

Proponents of the Kansas City toy train claim that the streetcar is luring biz and will serve as a "magnet" for all kinds of economic development.

Meanwhile, opponents offers a very practical and recent example that the opposite is happening amid a high profile company move. Here's the word from the other side:

"Toy train loses another business.

Populous will move from River Market to Plaza area

They are one block from trolley and now they are moving to Plaza. Is Russ keeping track of this???"

I'm sure Russ know EVERYTHING about the toy train . . . But he won't be answering any questions.

  4. 6:10. Yep. The Simpsons called this whole mess twenty years ago. Unreal.

  5. The city attorneys argued in favor of displacement in court today. It's on record. Property value matters more than people to this city.

That's why education and crime are lower priorities than making the plaza and downtown more profitable.

  6. Still one block from the streetcar route, dumbasses

  7. Not one block from Phase One, that only goes to Union Station. Phase Two massive tax increase will never pass!

  8. Spirit Airlines just came to town. What "phase" of the streetcar is the airport in?
Well, we'll just count them as another part of the streetcar successes anyway.
Haven't these bozos figured out that ANY developer who is looking for a handout is happy to claim the streetcar as the reason for their decision?
    Sound chamber 101.

  9. Streetcar Authority awarded the management contract to Herzog.

This is a guy who gave $250 grand to anti labor goon Gov Scott Walker to help save his ass in the Wisconsin recall election. Nice to know our streetcar tax dollars will be spent wisely.

  10. Just ride the freaking bus.

  11. $65 million a mile to transport a few hipsters back and forth to bars once or twice a month?

    Don't think so.

  12. Scott Walker is a stud Gov and Missouri needs one like it. Walker never broke a sweat in the recall AND got reelected. What else you got 8:53? How about.. the truth?

  13. These developers don’t pay a dime for the major burdens that their projects will place upon the already old and obsolete city infrastructure; sewage treatment, parks, libraries, road maintenance, transit, neighborhood impacts, etc. These developers rely upon ignorant voters to tax themselves to support these projects. I fully support maintaining transit services however, I will never support regressive tax measures such as this proposed TDD that continues to allow developers to pass on their development impacts and costs onto existing residents.
