TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY MIDDLE OF THE MAP FORUM CONCLUDES WITH MAYOR SLY JAMES INSIGHT INTO AUSTIN DOPE PRICES!!!

The Kansas City Middle Of The Map Forum just finished. It was the first time that fest took place in The Star HQ and today people were a little less friendly after initially being shocked that TKC made it past security. Still, the forum that I really wanted to see was exceptionally interesting.

Why KC May Be The Next Austin

For the most part I zoned at and took more note of the blonde hotties prancing around in spring dresses . . . The pleasantries are something that I've already heard.

One astute observer of the forum said, "This is all great. But where do we go from here??? That should be the big question."

As usual, everybody in the Star room adored Kansas City Mayor Sly James and there was applause after nearly every sentence he completed.

Still, the crowd was easy but he saved the best for last . . .

Mayor Sly ended the forum with this observation: "A quick story. I was talking with my friend from Austin and he remarked 'at the outset of Austin expansion and their ascendancy as the Live Music Capital of the World. What might have sparked all of that development is that Austin had the cheapest dope around.'"

Credit where it's due . . . The line got a laugh but I don't easily dismiss it and the observation might give more credence to talk of marijuana legalization and the current economic boom enjoyed by Colorado after their legalization scheme.

KC Star publisher Mi-Ai Parrish thanked the crowd in front of a UMB promo wall.

I guess it was the "What if" Kansas City wall . . . TKC wrote: What if we stopped raising taxes on po'folk.

This artsy featured artist wizard was actually really good.

CORBY!!!

Our favorite music lady from Saunders Street Music . . .

Thinking about going to the film fest . . . In the meantime . . .

This blog community wonders . . .

WILL KANSAS CITY BECOME "THE NEXT AUSTIN" AND IF SO, AT WHAT COST?!?!

Developing . . .

Nice job Tony--

Nice job.

No doubt you make everyone there uneasy.

You should.

You. Are. The. Last. Real. Representative. Of. The. First. Amendment. In. This. City.

The 4th estate, a dying, moribund body whose final breaths, will, as seen now, raise sycophancy to virtue, will acquiesce, at death, again, to the whim and caprice of
Kleptocrats and Plutocrats, who, until the advent of "The Internets" have ruled our thoughts and actions by default.

Fucke 'em and feed 'em fish heads.

If a state can declare marijuana legal, can a city?

Mi-ah's not much of a publisher, but she's got a nice pooper. Wish you'd gotten a better picture, maybe a little upskirt as she walked by, or down blouse. either will do.

I am optimistic that if you got by security so might a terrorist and so there's hope for the commmunity yet.

Sly is a dipshit.

KCMO will always be a second city or the "next " something or the other as long as we forget to remember how good we really are. I like KCMO.

Legalize it!

Kc is never going to be Austin. Texas protects the rights of gun owners. In KCMO, the mayor and the police are looking to take guns away from law abiding citizens.

KCMO is clearly not short on haters or trolls.

Ever hear of predestination?

As long as we're trying to be like everybody else except ourselves we'll never succeed at anything.

Great pics! I think the space makes ur life easier on that, love the lighting in that building. If mayor sly can deliver on cheap weed, he has my vote in next elections! No lie

Shut up Byron. Get back in your Sect. 8 house and enjoy the food we bought you. Loser.

Austin is where all the hipsters and hippies are. Kind of like what Lawrence is to KS. Except Austin is much larger and has more to offer.

Texas has one of the highest property tax rate in the Country.

Don't guess if you don't know.

Browback guess and gets the no government story WRONG.

If downtown and city hall would stop being so damn embarrassing then maybe enough unpretentious young folk would stay in KC, instead of fleeing.
No way KC can become "Austin" under current power structure.

I heard this is where the angry trolls go to congregate.

Better here than out among people.

Draft Day is pretty good, and the misses enjoyed the dinner.

Get a friggin life people.

Kc will never make a pimple on Autins ass for many reasons. First back when there actually were some musicians in this town folks did not have wnough sense to support or appreciate them. Now what you have for musicians are mostly old stoners, heads preserved in Jack Daniels and drugs, playing 5O year old songs and doing a really shitty job at it. There are few decent song writers, real singers and few who can actually read a note of music. There are even fewer business folks who have any real experience in the music business and those who actually do, including a couple of world renowned artists, who are living large and hiding out from the overwhelming pack of wannabees who play their hearts out every weekend for 30 bucks a night and all their livers can handle at the local dives.
