MUST SEE KMBC TOY TRAIN OP/ED!!!

Among longtime denizens of the Kansas City discourse a bit of TV news opinion continues to make a stir.

CHECK THIS EPIC BIT OF KMBC TOY TRAIN STREETCAR EDITORIAL THAT TOTALLY HITS THE MARK ACCORDING TO INSIDERS!!!

Money line:

"An important lesson should be learned from how this project was mishandled from day 1. If all key stakeholders were engaged in a thorough discussion initially, then perhaps this ongoing dissent could've been avoided."

  1. Too bad we can't get balanced opinion like that from the paper.

  2. Yeah, that's the problem, not enough meetings. Crazy to see all the whites come out of the woodwork as soon as the City starts thinking about building an improvement to the east side.

  3. Sarah comes from Omaha so her opinion would probably not be biased one way or the other...just calling it like it is. If everyone is paying then everyone should get to vote it. If you don't vote then you can't say a fucking thing. Isn't democracy wonderful.

  4. 8:06 Three things. ANY improvement made on the East side is paid for by whitey. Any improvement will not be appreciated by said East side paid for by the rest of KC. Last, any improvement made on the East side will be DESTROYED by the same East-siders in short order. If you don't think this is true name one thing, just one, that has improved once black people took it over. I won't hold my breath.

  5. Why can't Mary Sanchez write like this? Sarah has it right.

  6. I love how all the supporter graphics fail to show the very attractive overhead lines in clear detail in any of the pictures....they will detract from the city's beauty, not add to it.

  7. I like how hyberblogal is working to protect the east side from the blight of overhead wires. The existing blight must be preserved. Asshole.

  8. Unless there's a much more focused and successful effort at curbing the crime, violence, and murders on teh east side, all the tax money in the world, including the hundreds of millions spent on a streetcar line, are going to mean anything.
The notion that building something that runs on rails from just anywhere to just anywhere else is going to create "economic development" is just plain silly. And there's nowhre near enough taxable property or sales tax generated to come close to covering the costs of operation and maintenance for an east side line.
This whole fiasco has been a con job from the beginning and it's actually getting worse as the city hall gang and the transit enthusiasts become more desperate as the actual cost figures gradually become more clear to the public.
What Sly has hoped would be his great legacy will become instead, something that he's remembered for all the decades the bond payments continue to suck money out of the general fund.
He can only hope the streetcar at least won't be named after him.

  10. Why does she feel the need to get in the middle of the street? lol

  11. KCI and Streetcar both "mishandled from the beginning." Both led by Russ Johnson. Mensa must be having a sale.

  12. I like how the racists want to keep the east side repressed.

  13. Hey Tony, did you get that IP address of hat last commenter? Good. Subpoena on the way.

  15. Pffffft! KMBC trying to divert the attention from their own brilliant personnel decisions that will cost them in the rating

  16. Murder is GDP in this city so don't think that bother's the Pharaohs one bit from completing their long range plans and use low voter turnout as a front.

  17. 2 votes, widespread approval for streetcar and water projects. Looks like a mandate to me.

  18. 1004 Your statement is a joke. They and they alone keep themselves down. Whitey doesn't make them drop out of school and have kids at 15 years old. The social system that whitey created takes care of a huge percentage of them from cradle to grave. Nobody makes them wear their pants around their knees or have no command of the English language. Whitey doesn't make them eschew education or any kind of work ethic. Whitey doesn't protect murderers and rapists living among them and not snitching. Whitey doesn't make their "fathers" have zero involvement in their kids lives. Whitey doesn't make them felons. They commit the crimes. Whitey doesn't make them unemployable. You ever get service of any kind from a black woman somewhere? The attitude they put off is palpable. You think that makes a good employee? Go to city hall and see what great service you get from one of those ladies. Black people do everything possible to put themselves behind the 8-ball of life before they are 20 years old. It is nobodies fault but their own. Take some personal responsibility. Corporations are dying to hire a black male with a degree but so few exist. Think how rarely you see a well-dressed black man looking like he's going to a good paying job. It just almost never happens. The East side is full of drug dealers who ALL think they are going to play in the NBA or be rappers. Not going to happen. They are surrounded by failure. You would think someone would take a look around and think to themselves, "I should do the opposite of what all these losers do" but they don't. Only one race on Earth is stupid enough to replicate and admire the prison culture. Hint: it's not the Amish.

  19. Sarah Smith states "The streetcar represents a bold new alternative for transportation in Kansas City." Seems like she is kind of out of touch with the situation. The streetcar point man at City Hall, Russ Johnson, has stated repeatedly that the streetcar development purpose is not for transpiration, but solely for economic development.

  20. Her editorial certainly points out what morons David Johnson & Russ Johnson are. City Hall finally figured this out and has shut them up.

  21. Another hard hitting television station editorial stating the obvious.

But this time, the GM does a standup in the middle of the street. I just love TV theatrics.

Did she come out for or against it?

    ReplyDelete
  22. LOL, I love this new push to brand the streetcar opposition as racist, even though streetcar supporters are pushing for a regressive tax on the east side to fund 11 miles of streetcar, less than four miles of which are actually east of Troost. Oh, and then a bus on Prospect.

Hyperblogal and I actually live East of Troost, so you're barking up the wrong tree if you think you've got a valid point.
