MAYOR SLY'S KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR ATTACK AGAINST PO'FOLK!!!

Here's yet another sign that Mayor Sly has long forgotten about his days on Montgall despite his rhetoric . . . Also, imagining Mayor Sly in Robin Hood tights makes me giggle . . .

Kansas City Streetcar Robs Poor to Pay … Rich?

Money line:

"Some of the poorest parts of Kansas City — those already in dire need of transportation and infrastructure improvements — will be paying more in taxes so that the already developed parts of Kansas City can get new sidewalks, landscaping, streetcars, and the increased property values that go with it. Those outside the TDD will also pay more through sales tax and the special assessment levied on government property, and by however the city decides to close the $30 million to $50 million gap in financing.

Seriously, that is Kansas City Mayor Sly James’ plan.

To make matters worse, non-profit organizations along the route will pay a special assessment that will impact their ability to serve those same communities in need."

Sadly, Mayor Sly is virtually unchallenged by voters from the East side . . . At the very worst, The East side merely won't show up to vote for a Mayor who clearly cares more about developers and local corporations than the vast majority of his broke-ass constituents in the urban core.

Developing . . .

  1. Hey TKC, you're missing the bright side here: At least Russ Johnson never pretended to care about poor people.

  2. And don't forget all the hundreds of thousands coming out of the PIAC accounts. Money that's SPECIFICALLY designated for street and sidewalk repair.
And it's being used to make INTEREST payments on $10 million borrowed for streetcar PLANNING.
Anybody checked under the seat cushions in Sly's office?

  3. It's only a couple extra hundred dollars a year.

  4. I'll have more to say about this after my bi-annual bath.

  5. Lol at "already developed". The entire core is already developed, the east side has just even neglected and abandoned by its own residents. And the idea that the Main Street corridor is were "rich ppl" live is hilarious. Main Street is as mixed as it gets racially and economically it's not exactly 119th.

Your arguments get thinner and thinner the more desperate you get.

  6. What really worries me is that these streetcar cheerleaders are getting angry and starting to use horrible personal insults and nasty attacks against those of us who defeated them in Brookside.

  12. Instead of focusing on crime & basic services, the mayor has been focusing on eco-devo dreams. This neglect led to the death of Damiah L. White, which is why I think the streetcar should be named for her.

If the police had been fully funded, she might still be alive.

Just what does James know about the needs of poor people. Anybody who is not driving an Escalade is poor. Negros get in a suit and start tripping. Well, Black people, your chickens are coming home to roost.

  18. Sly James? You mean ol' puke dick? That guy couldn't even clean the puke out of his rim, this street car isn't ever gonna happen.

  19. Actually, Tony, the Eastside not getting involved might be a good thing. Where do you think most of Sly's votes came from in the last mayoral election?

This clown gets trounced out of office next year. I don't give a **** what Yael thinks. He was wrong in January, and he's going to be just as wrong next March.

  20. Down with City Hall! How dare they have people vote on whether they tax themselves for a capital improvement.

  21. Nice try 8:36.

Most people in actual brookside like to vote on their own decisions, not have 20 bullies pretend to speak for them

So, you've been saying for a long time now. You're just as full of shit as these other dirt bags like 9:31 & 9:41.

I saw your ad on Craiglist. Did you get any responses?

  23. Show me shills FEAR investment in the city, especially the east side because their fake libertarian voodoo economics relies on urban core disinvestment.

Patrick Touhey and uncle Rexroth are so out of touch with KC and especially Brookside (which has voted FOR light rail on the trolley trail twice now) to say nothing of midtown and the east side.

If you find yourself on the side of Touhey and the show me shills, you are an outlier in this city.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Actually, it was 9:39. 9:39 & 9:41 are probably the same person (who might be 9:55 as well). I can't tell you people apart when you all hide under white sheets like this. Such brave lads, calling me names while being anonymous.

  26. 10:25-- the only lightrail plans that we voted on were for lightrail that did not go through Brookside. It went South on Prospect. And we voted for that plan because it taxed the whole city. Not just one district. And the whole city participated in the vote. It was a fair taxing plan, did not have a train running through Brookside, and was the whole city was included in the process.

  30. "Lol, Patrick Tuohey is out of touch with Brookside so much that the city gerrymandered Brookside out of their TDD!

"And certainly the east side wants/needs streetcar. No one is denying that. Except for Byron Stadler, that guy who has lived east of Troost for over 25 years and never bathes. Oh and maybe most of his neighbors who are just a bunch of old people and minorities too stupid to use the internet.

"Come to think of it, the entire east side is a shit hole that has been abandoned. Main Street is so under developed."

Russ and Dave Johnson are in complete freak out mode right now, folks. The data being presented by the Show Me Institute is resonating and they have to make sure everyone knows they are libertarian shills funded by out of town billionaires, but obviously the streetcar is not being promoted by out of town millionaires... Oops.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Could we keep this about the streetcar? Who cares what the sheepshagger thinks? Mensa boy and his merry hipsters are much more of a threat to the taxpayers in this city than our former mayor's demented brother.

    ReplyDelete
  32. 10:42, I lives in brookside during the 2001 vote. It called for light rail on the trolley trail and it passed by over 60% in brookside wards.

I have no idea who Bryan stadler or Patrick Touhey are, but neither one of them has brooksiders proxy vote and the idea that the Show Me Institute's "data" resonates with anybody except the 10% of brooksiders who vote no on everything anyway is ridiculous. These are the same corporatist a who ran a campaign to bankrupt our city not 5 years ago and very few of us have forgotten it or their agenda, and it certainly does not line up with the politics of the average brooksider. That's verifiable.

In his effort to "beat the streetcar" Rex's little water carrier seems to have forgotten that he doesn't have a mandate to represent this neighborhoods interest. That happens at a ballot box, but I can see why the streetcar opponents were scared of that. They are even more scared of letting midtowners and minority wards vote, and that why the clique of brooksiders like Dejanes and burke are now pretending they speak for the east side, and demanding they not get a vote either. Brookside mommy knows best and white mansplaining patronizing at its most loathe some.

Also, a few of you need to look up the words gerrymander and disenfranchise before you use them again...

  33. There will be no streetcar extension. The Feds stated this week that the money has already been allocated (unofficially). Guess Sly James isn't such a good friend of the head of the Feds money machine. The City can spend all they want, and the supporters can beg all they want, and bad mouth the opponents. It doesn't matter. If there is no funding, there is no extension.

THERE IS NO FUNDING. NO EXTENSION. You heard it here first. Come August, you will remember!

  34. Nobody listens to the Show Me Institute. Nobody.

  35. 7:47: Same misspellings, lack of capitalization, carelessness, etc. as always. Learn a new style, Mensa boy. Stating your mantra as fact is getting less and less convincing and attacking those who oppose your dubious position is not the same as addressing the issues they raise. And 9:19, you only wish no one listens to the Show Me Institute.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Calling someone who you disagree with "Mensa boy" in the same sentence as accusing your opposition of ad hominem attacks is part of the reason no one listens to you and your "institute". The other reason is that the "data" you proport to base your arguments on is readily disproven, your agenda is not supported by the majority of Missourians much less Kansas Citians, and your choir preeching and dog whistle politics don't "resonate" with anyone but the basest and most uninformed fringe thinkers in out populace.

Have fun energizing your 10% base. There's a reason the only place your getting traction is a Facebook page frequented by 10 posters and blog where the normal level of discourse is race baiting and the same sophomoric cum joke repeated ad infinitum.

    ReplyDelete
  37. "There's a reason the only place your getting traction is a Facebook page frequented by 10 posters"

Better, but that should be "you're," Mensa boy, and if you'll note "Mensa boy" and the alleged accusation of your ad hominem attacks are not in the same sentence. In fact "Mensa boy" is not an ad hominem attack, but you should already know that. You're reaching, but that's nothing new, and you're still not addressing the facts.

  38. If you going to be comment-section pedant, perhaps you should learn how to properly place commas...because that little screed is about a C- for punctiuation.

Why don't you stick to your strong suits:

    Lying

    Propaganda

    Indignation

and writing gems like "attacking the messenger isn't the same as adressing the issue, you hipster/renter/libtard/Mensa boy/etc."

You're not as clever as the guy your trying to emulate, and he's not as smart as the financier who gives him his marching orders and faux populist talking points, and he's not as smart as he thinks he is.

Ask him how he did in the e-tax crusades against St Louis and KC. Really read the tea-leaves there....

Congratulations on sharing the values of the hillbillies in Nixa and Boonville. Nobody here thinks your disasterous 1980s economic wealth consolidation schemes are all that clever. And your "understanding" of how to make a city work and why is not hard to read for what it really is: a plan to defund our cities and bankroll corporatist interests.

Welcome to Kansas City. You are not us.

    ReplyDelete
  39. So how many books and articles have you published, Mensa boy?

You're still having an issue with "you're." And I do my own thinking, thank you. I voted for the earnings tax and against Ronald Reagan, so if that rocks your world, so be it. Accusing me of sharing the values of hillbillies in Nixa and Boonville assumes every single hillbilly is of one mind and that every single value everyone of them holds is bad.

I'm opposed to the streetcar because it is a big waste of money. If the proponents really thought the streetcar had broad support, they would not have rigged a vote that enabled a little more than 300 people to foist this disaster on this town.

I suspect I've lived here longer than you, and I sure don't want to be one of your definition of "us" as I am decidedly not a hipster.

If you have anything positive to add to the debate about the streetcar, you might want to do that rather than insult hillbillies who won't be voting on the issue anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  40. By the way, I also voted for Sly James. We all make mistakes.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Here's a streetcar positive:

After ALL your hyperbole and outright lies...

TDD creation polls at 62% in favor in the TDD. Sample size of 200 voters.

Enjoy the next 4 month of futile Facebook manufactured rage, horseshit conspiracy theories and bad agenda driven "data" refuted at a 4:1 ratio.

The largest investment in the east side of Kansas City in its history and the brookside fuddy duddies are furious because "they care about poor ppl".

Next time you worried about waste, protest the publicly funded parking lot oases that are garnering national attention. Do something useful with your time and your show me talking points and their (self) "published" articles and books.
