Brief aside . . . For those who read this blog VERY CLOSELY . . . Tonight we witnessed a bit of a RUCKUS in Midtown Kansas City and once again we discovered that the KCPD IS THE KANSAS CITY GOLD STANDARD ON LOCAL STREETS . . . Seriously, there were hobos yelling, flying glass, heavy traffic, screeching tires and pretty much an all around hot mess . . . In the middle of it all KCPD didn't just keep cool but maintained a EXCEPTIONAL level of professionalism. There are a great many things wrong with KCMO but rank-and-file police protecting our hectic streets are just one of the few places where this town excels above everyone else in the region.
Hopefully, we'll have more discussion, debate, discourse and more than our share of hateration along with all kinds of good stuff for the morning update . . . STAY TUNED!!!

ReplyDeleteOne point that was clear, every argument the airport cheerleaders make has been disproved. This week the TSA disputed their claims, last week Southwest contradicted their date. What's next? How long until we realize that this is just another development scheme?

That wet dream of an airport ain't never going to be built. The director of aviation and his cohort, the director of the convention bureau both need to be fired. Damn liars, well they are.
Mr. Tony, why is Gwen Grant on that show? I do realize the host and regular panelists try very hard to attain sub-par status, but Grant just can't keep up.

I went to the coffee shop in Westport yesterday and have been constipated every since....I was trying to take a shit when RUKUS was on tonight. Got a big long turd out just as RUCKUS was over. Sure glad I didn't miss anything cause that relief sure felt good.

ReplyDeleteGwen Grant's on the show for the same reason that the corporations all get in line to buy sponsor tables for the Urban League dinner even though they know all the money goes to her and the organization doesn't really do anything.
ReplyDeleteThey're all afraid of her and they think it's cheaper to buy her off than it is to risk a made-up employment lawsuit and other harrassment.
So people like Grant continue to be self-appointed "spokesmen" for the black community and the east side continues to deteriorate and take more of KCMO south of the river with it.
And then those same corporations thow a few hundred thou into the Chamber's Urban Core Initiative and talk about how strongly they feel about all the good they're doing.
The same folks who are sitting on the backhoes digging are the very people encouraging everyone else to help fill in the holes.
Perpetual motion machine.
Yael is such a populist. Three weeks ago he couldn't have been a more fervent supporter of the streetcar, and now he has concerns?!
ReplyDeleteI'll tell you one thing, now that the streetcar has moved outside of it's tiny little pocket of mostly white, single, 20-somethings, it's lost it's luster.
The Star finally seems to be getting the message on the airport. Take a look at Lee Judge's on-the-mark cartoon in today's paper.
ReplyDeleteThe Star might also be getting on the mark that the elected and appointed officials in KC have no serious engagement and very little interest in addressing the violence and homicides in the city and that the nonprofits do whatever they want without any results or accountability.

Gwen's comment about KCI security cost-savings was also wrong. When TSA said our current security set up was better, they also said costs would NOT come down in a single terminal because they don't want lines and would simply bring all their people to a central location.
