Streetcar Update: Rail Arrival and Details of Work To be Done

Here's a bit of an optimistic look from our favorite photo blogger Eric Bowers:

KC Streetcar Rail Deliveries

Deets:

"The first three truckloads of streetcar rail arrived in Kansas City. A total of 35 truckloads of rail will arrive in April 2014 to build out the two mile downtown streetcar line between the River Market and Union Station along Main street. The rails were manufactured in Pennsylvania and are made out of 99.5% recycled scrap metal."

Now onto the video:

Kansas City residents might think that this arrival signals hope for the future or maybe just another bill to pay. Hopefully, we'll fight about it in just a bit . . . STAY TUNED!!!

  8. Don't worry KC. I'm sure there will be some scrap value when we sell the rails to some other less than smart city at .50 on the dollar!

  9. You guys had this all wrong. 100000000 for 2 miles is only 9469 a foot. This is cheap per foot. And if everyone rides for free this will easily pay for its self so fast it is crazy. This is the definition of sarcasm

  10. "City needs more streetcar extensions" says the HNTB executive driving his Mercedes to the private country club for a round of 18.

  11. scrappers stole the metal to make the rails

  12. Everyone should go check out the rail. It's really an exciting time to be in KCMO.

  13. I'm scared of change. Everything was so good the way it always has been as long as Ive been aware of it. I'm uncomfortable with this and if I'm not attended to that will really seethe in me.
