Celebrate Kansas City Westside Infrastructure Improvement After Only A Short 7 Year Wait!!!

Progress takes a long time in Kansas City but this morning we noticed a bit of good news for our beloved Westside . . .

Background from KSHB . . .

17th Street underpass remains in dark after seven years

And now . . .

THE WESTSIDE CAN FINALLY WALK IN THE LIGHT AFTER A MERE 7 YEARS OF WAITING FOR AN IMPROVEMENT REQUEST!!!

Personally, I think the only reason for the improvement is because it was freaking out a few First Friday visitors . . . But let's not get too critical.

The lights are shining bright and making the trip down toward K-PAC for so many low-income residents that much easier. Natch.

Only in a city which spends hundreds of millions on glamour projects and subsidizing private buildings even as the streets crumble, water pipes burst, and violence continues unabated, would a project with a few lights installed be viewed as some kind of major accomplishment.
In most other cities that have actual municipal governments, these kinds of things are called doing your jobs.

You silly blogger!

Westside....Eastside....you don't matter to the the power structure. It's all about Downtown...Plaza...Ward Parkway Corridor.

The symbolism is striking isn't it?
"Keep them in the dark."
