CELEBRATE KANSAS CITY FOUNTAIN DAY!!!

Kansas City is the city of fountains and today is FOUNTAIN DAY!!!

The second Tuesday in April marks the day when Kansas City, Missouri’s 48 public fountains spring back to life! Please join the Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners for the official start of 2014 fountain season in the City of Fountains.

And while this bit of Parks & Rec hype is appreciated.

Here's something that's more important . . .

LET'S NOT FORGET THAT KANSAS CITY FOUNTAINS ARE IN DESPERATE NEED OF CASH AND ALREADY BEGGING FOR MONEY WHILE THREATENING SHUTDOWN THIS SUMMER!!!

In fact, Kansas City is already wishing for more fountain cash as politicos are busy pushing more toy train streetcar taxes.

For those who are so inclined . . . Here's a link to donate to the cause: Wish Upon A Fountain Kansas City

Meanwhile, the rest of us might want to remember that Global Climate Change, old and busted infrastructure along with tragic City Hall priorities are pretty much destroying the old school fountain legacy of this town.

Comments

  1. Parks & Rec should stop building water park attractions and use that money to maintain the fountains.

  2. So now we can't even fund our fountains? Can we fund anything around here without screwing it up?

  5. Can't fund the fountains.
    Layoffs of code enforcement employees.
Shutdown the PD Community Relations Department.
No money for street or sidewalk repair.
In fact, if you want any of this in your neighborhood, form a CID and TAX yourself again.
The folks at city hall just continue to give away the tax base and scour every possible account for grandiose projects like the streetcar.
And the rest of the metro where 84% of the population lives, just stares wide-eyed and laughs.
    Amateur night on the plains.

  6. The legacy of people paying pricey tap water.

  7. KCMO government is admitting, but not in a straightforward manner, that they are failing.

Parks & Recreation can't properly maintain the fountains that this city touts as their symbol. Better establish a foundation to solicit funds for something that is the responsibility of the city.

Whenever the city raises your taxes and/or eliminates services, this is a primary indicator that they have failed to properly budget and utilize taxpayer funds wisely. Spending money (especially other peoples money) is fun. So, just like a teenager who suddenly gets an inheritance, city politicians are eager to buy lots of expensive toys and show-off to their friends. It's very immature, wasteful, and illogical.
