KMBC: Police investigate homicide near E 55th Street, Rinker Road
Deets:
Officers said they were responding to a domestic disturbance call at about 1:30 a.m. near East 55th Street and Rinker Road when they found one person dead.
Unofficially, this might be Kansas City murder #18 compared with 25 at this time last year.

ReplyDeleteDon't worry Tony, all those resources they've put into the KC NOVA program will soon pay off. I bet by the end of the year, we'll have no less than a 100 homicides, and everyone will be singing the praises of NOVA, and justifying the need to either continue the program, or throw even more resources into it.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Tony should ask the "leaders" of this program how they intend to measure their success. Will they determine their program is effective if there are less homicides than last year? Last year there were 106 homicides, right? So, if there are 105 homicides in 2014, will these "leaders" declare the program a success? OR, will they continue to demand additional resources and personnel be assigned to this new project?
So, the question remains, what will the "leaders" of KC NOVA use as their benchmark for success? Will it be 105 homicides, 100, 90, 80, 60, or 40 homicides in 2014? How about it Mayor Sly, Mean Jean... What is the benchmark for success of this program?
There is NO benchmark for success of NoVa or any of the other programs that spend tens of million of tax dollars every year on "anti-drug, anti-crime, and drug trweatment" programs. Aim4Peace and COMBAT both come to mind.
ReplyDeleteIf the murder rate stays the same or increases, these folks just claim that if only they were given even more money, things would improve.
If the homicide rate decreases, they'll take credit for that.
And the elected, appointed, and other officials who dole out the money have so little interest in and idea of what's really going on, they just keep looking the other way and keep those tax dollars flowing.
Just yesterday KCMO had 8 fewer homicides than last year, mostly due to the cold and snowy weather during February.
Today it's only 7 less.
2014 will see at least 104 homicides in KCMO.
Nothing has changed.
Dear Mr. Tony: Thanks for posting this info. As far as why we have lower homicide totals so far in 2014 compared to this time at 2013, the evidence seems to point in the direction of the much colder temperatures of 2014 compared to 2013. In Jan-Feb. 2013 we had 19 homicides, in Jan.-Feb. 2014 we had 9 homicides. Since March 1, 2014 we have had 9 homicides in KCMO--in the same period in 2013 there were 6 homicides. This pattern in KCMO is being replicated across the country--a lot of cities had much lower than usual homicide totals this year for Jan.-Feb.--but now their homicide totals are on the rise again. I am in from out of town,( I wont tell you where because we dont need refugees there) I want to point out you spoiled morons in this city have no idea what cold is, however you sure know how to bitch about shit here, you people might want to try less bitching, possibly less drinking/drugs and start trying to do something to fix your bitches and your city - its called being proactive, and after taking a disgusting yellow cab ride that I waited a hour for to go back to my downtown (advertised as a 4 star hotel) which was no better than a super 8, I hope to GOD I never have to ever come back here again! - in fact I think I would consider quitting my job before I did! Cant wait for my half hour stink ride by cab back to the airport in the morning to get the FUCK out of this nasty city!!
