Kelly Brook and her money hotness exemplifies recent Kansas City concern over local tax breaks for a Cordish Condo.

KANSAS CITY INSIDERS FEAR THAT TAX BREAKS FOR CORDISH LUXURY CONDOS COULD GIVE RISE TO NEIGHBORHOOD PUSH BACK COME ELECTION TIME!!!

THE FIGHT OVER KANSAS CITY GREEN IS RAMPING UP ON ST. PADDY'S DAY!!!

Just a bit of background:

Biz Journal: Work on Cordish's One Light apartment tower will begin in April

Of course the newspaper is shilling the project: New apartments are crucial to downtown KC's continuing revival

Pitch puts things rather accurately: Cordish gets millions in taxpayer money to build its new apartments in Power & Light District

However, word of outrage on this double down already has politicos concerned that the cost is starting to anger locals and few believe this double down strategy for the embattled P&L District facing so many discrimination lawsuits will ever really make a difference.

  1. Tax and spend Mayor Sly James.

  2. The neighborhoods can push back all they want. There's none of the council and certainly not Sly, who could care less or needs any support from the residents of KCMO. They get their backing and bucks from the swells, developers, and insiders and the next round of council candidates will be even bigger wimps and pushovers than the clowns there now.
Pay you etaxes, property taxes, and ever-increasing sales taxes and just let the professionals at 12th and Oak handle the city.
Really bad times are coming and they're going to be caused by plain old financial arithmetic.
    All aboard.

"As for the pyramids, there is nothing to wonder at in them so much as the fact that so many men could be found degraded enough to spend their lives constructing a tomb for some ambitious booby, whom it would have been wiser and manlier to have drowned in the Nile, and then given his body to the dogs."

    Mr. Tony,
Just when in the hell do we Start reaping the benefits of shovingmoney into the pockets of development attorneys and their paid pooches?
I swear to God, every damn time these stupid council members PROMISE that the latest money grab is the "last" money grab. It said to be the "last" piece of the puzzle that will bring in a tsunami of private, no public money prospectors. So far all we got downtown are whores.
Happy effing St. Patrick's Day, and may the Harpies sleep while you are abroad in this city.

    vote sly James OUT!

  5. amen to that, sister! Sly james is the worst tax and spend piece of shit this town has ever seen.

  6. The mayor and council complain that the city is going broke. Then they turn around and give 25 year tax breaks and taxpayers cash to developers to "help" them build offices and condos on prime real estate property. On top of that they give even more tax breaks to lure companies from Kansas over to Missouri. Now how much loyalty is that company going to have towards KC when the tax breaks run out. Take a look at the profits and executive pay of companies like Block and Cordish to see just how much "help" they need with these projects. On top of all this the mayor and council want to cram a toy train down our throats with accompanying sales tax and property tax increases. Get rid of them all in the next election.

  7. 114-million for trolley through sketchy means. 20-million for a soccer village, 10-million to "study" streetcar expansion with lug paid for by PIAC, 1-billion for an unneeded new airport, TIFs for billion dollar construction companies, TIFS for downtown apartments in a market with 90% occupancy? They have no idea how mad the voters are getting...

  8. And as all this tax money disappears into developers' pockets, consulting or legal fees, or grandiose projects, don't forget to start you very own CID in your neighborhood so you can tax yourself again for little things like public safety, code enforcement, or decent streets.
In most actual cities, the local government is dedicated to provide those kind of boring everyday things, but in big-time KCMO they're just running a little short of cash.
And any of them who can and want to run again will be re-elected. Or run for something else.
    An endless carnival.

  9. Am I mistaken? Or did I read that Dunn walked away from this project because Cordish uses its profits to support political candidates that are decidedly pro-choice? And as we all know, supporting abortion runs contrary to Steve Dunn's deeply held religious convictions.

  10. A rich man can have as many deeply held religious convictions as he wants, but Jesus made it very plain that rich people do NOT go to heaven. Capitalism & Christianity are fundamentally incompatible.

  11. You missed the big one... in five years it will cost you $2.00 every time you flush your toilet!

  12. Nice try stinky finger. Many different types of rich.

You shouldn't be concerned, you say there is no God so the point is mute.

If you want to be taken seriously (or at least as an adult), don't pass yourself off as a cat with a hat.

  14. I like the way the tower looks. And it will help Kansas City get to the point where the term cosmopolitan is more plausible.

    Really.

    Byron you are mistaken.

Salvation is available to all that call on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Rich people have a hard time giving up the greed of the world. The poor are more open to the gospel message because they seek hope.

  16. Byron, that is just in the Big 12.

If you are in the SEC and rich, you go to heaven.

  17. I already voted Sly out. He didn't get my vote to get in. He won't get my vote to get in again either. I was hoping a massive, fatal heart attack would creep up on him. Nobody that fat can live as long as Sly. Ever seen a 400lb 90 year old? Hell no! And there won't be any either.

Down with the Clown in the bowtie. Leaders step up... preferably nobody over 50. Seniors can't keep up with the new age and a bowtie won't get you there.

Nice try, troll. But, I'm not the one pretending to be a Christian. That would be you & Mr. Dunn. That's probably why you're so hateful.

  20. Haha Byron aka Stinky finger got caught in another lie.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Byron is simply rationalizing his lifestyle. Stay poor=going to heaven.

    ReplyDelete
  22. No lie, trolls.

I was pointing out that Christians don't really believe Christian Cosmology.

Stay poor, let rich men do their own damn work.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Stay lazy=stay poor and mooch off the work of others=go to heaven.

  24. Byron you go straight to hell. Sheep Shagger.
