TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! MIDTOWN KANSAS CITY PO'FOLK PETITION MAYOR AND COUNCIL AGAINST EMINENT DOMAIN RELOCATION SCHEME ON ARMOUR!!!
Sadly, the current epoch in Kansas City politics mostly skews in favor of developers and elites working against low income housing.
Take a look at this petition recently started:
Demand ethical and lawful treatment for residents of the Bainbridge housing complex and all low-income Armour Corridor housing
Deets:
"The Bainbridge, Georgian Court, and Linda Vista apartments along Armour Boulevard are home to over 400 residents, many of whom are families with young children, or are elderly and/or disabled. In the past year, a small but influential group of our neighbors have been working closely with the Hyde Park Neighborhood Association board and city officials to designate these properties as “socially blighted,” which will enable the city to shut down and then seize the buildings by eminent domain, and then relocate the residents without their knowledge or consent. This group has excluded members of the larger community and, most importantly, the Bainbridge residents themselves."
Again, Mayor Sly and his "win at all costs" approach to politics has pretty much excluded residents who don't have political connections and has turned its back on Kansas City's poor.
Developing . . .
Slys in D.C, goofing off.
ReplyDeleteIsn't he going to put a toy train through there so the poor will suddenly become wealthy overnight?
ReplyDelete"a small but influential group of our neighbors have been working closely with the Hyde Park Neighborhood Association board and city officials to designate these properties as “socially blighted,” which will enable the city to shut down and then seize the buildings by eminent domain, and then relocate the residents without their knowledge or consent."
ReplyDeleteAre these people so out of it they would not know if they'd been relocated?
Seriously, check the crime stats for these buildings. There's a reason their neighbors want them gone.
Who wouldn't want this shitty sec. 8 housing in their neighborhood? These shitholes are nothing but a high concentration of like-minded criminals. That is without a doubt the worst intersection on Troost.
ReplyDeleteThe Bainbridge is actually mixed income housing. A good portion of the residents pay market rate.
DeleteThe Bainbridge isn't on Troost. I lived in the Bainbridge for 3 years before getting married and loved it. The property was maintained very well. There was one major domestic violence incident which resulted in a homicide, something that happens in every neighborhood in the nation. I loved living there and the location can't be beat which is why this injustice is moving forward. It's all about the money and the developers. You know what... I'm white and the attitude ofe entitlement to everything west of Troost by white people disgusts me. I'm embarrassed by it frequently.
DeleteBULLDOZERS! Sooner the better!
ReplyDeleteWhy is development even political in Kansas City. Most developers come to the table with their own money and develop. Kansas City is so backwards... and corrupt.
ReplyDelete6:25 PM So, everywhere there is a crime problem, let's just take the property and do what we want with it. What happened to effective policing? What's being done to curb the crime? That's right... nothing. This town is tired.
ReplyDeleteAmen 7:43.
DeleteFun fact: Jovan "honey badger" Belcher was passed out in front of one of these apartment complexes in his Bentley, was discovered by KCMOPD and allowed to go along his way. A few hours later, he killed his gf and himself.
ReplyDelete7:43 It's Alonzos project, ask him.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful old kc.
ReplyDeleteNeeds to be turned back over to white people.
I'm good looking and fit and have a glory hole and ready to suck. GH has porn, handles above the door, heat and carpet. Totally anonymous for both of us. Age, race, looks, unimportant, just be showered/clean and disease free. Send cock pic and basic stats. No endless emails
ReplyDeleteI live in the suburbs. There hasn't been a murder within 2 sq miles of me in 3 years. It doesn't happen everywhere. We just put up with this bullshit up there.
ReplyDeleteThe Bainbridge is close to Troost. I drive by there frequently, and it's rare that there is not a police car or several parked in front of the building. I'm sure there are a lot of lovely people who live there, but there are is also a lot of rime in the building. Check the crime stats.
ReplyDelete7:15 AM But what does that have to do with the price of tea in China? There's a lot of crime on 47 Swope Parkway to Paseo South to 63rd Street, which includes a recent murder of a mother and baby daughter for no reason and likely their killer is the father of the baby and likely the Black community is celebrating the thug as a hero or urban legend. Again, what does crime have to do with the property? AND here the BIG question, what is the Police Department doing to curb the crime. Crime stats mean absolutely nothing without any real effort to resolve the crime. The fact that crime happens is not enough to justify using eminent domain to solve the problem because here's what happens dumb-dumb--- the crime just moves to another location. Same problem, different location. Eminent domain is not the answer to crime. Personal responsibility is a start but this same group cheerleading this is probably also cheerleading for violent felons to be pardoned and hired on at the City. Hiring felons doesn't curb crime, either. Get a clue!
ReplyDeleteYou might as well give up. Sly takes you out this time or after he gets the Transportation district going. He will have emminent domain to use to "helP' his toy train get built which means taking you out and giving your buildings to a millionaire developer friend.
