"Got a call from a firefighter's wife at approx 11:45 pm said Garney's house engulfed in flames. Jumped in car and went to see, I was one of many people who talked to Patty. She said she & Charles and dog ok. They had come home from KU game and were going to bed. Patty saw a flicker and went to see - thought she had left a light on. Then saw what was happening and woke Charles up grabbed the dog and got the hell out! Said firefighters very responsive - about 3 minutes."
We won't even play up class differences here, losing a home is no joke no matter who it happens to and our heart goes out to the survivors of the blaze.
Another angle of the blaze from AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS looking out on the scene . . .
Pretty much all of Kansas City Briarcliff is abuzz of this one for the late night.
KC Newsies on TV, feel free to use the pix but please give TKC Tipsters their credit.
Once again, that fire risk warning is no joke. Take a look at the new normal as global climate change and strange weather are just a couple of factors that contribute to Kansas City burning down.

ReplyDeleteIdiot, photos are right there, learn how to refresh your browser or get the fudge off the Internet. Go back to facebook u fudging noob.
ReplyDelete1:05, it wasn't wood shake shingling, it was a slate roof.
ReplyDeleteOh, no! I hope they are all ok! I have been there several times and it is beautiful. Charles and his wife are very nice people!
ReplyDeleteBad about the fire, is the mayor going to make a statement in his KCFD uniform?

ReplyDeleteI'm still sitting watching the brave firefighters put out small smolders. Sad, but I wish I would have got closer. The crazy wind was a huge factor for this blaze up on the exposed hill. It should look pretty cool come tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteAll that water in the fake lake with the fountain. Just couldn't get it on the house quickly enough.
ReplyDeleteGlad everyone got out safely.
Sad to see this. The Garney ' s are good down to earth, hardworking people.
ReplyDeleteLocal newsies must be creaming their bedsheets at the thought of getting to lead with this story in a couple of hours.
ReplyDeleteUsually they have to go to St Louis video or even further for some good fire footage.
Fire is a great equaliser! It doesn't matter how rich you are and how big you build, fire can take it all down. Amazing power!
ReplyDeleteGetting a little excited there 2:58!? Say, where we you earlier this evening?
ReplyDeleteI was standing there watching it burn.
Delete"were" you, that is
ReplyDeleteAgree with the fire bug on this one. Fire puts the power of the 1% in perspective.
ReplyDeleteTerrible...very nice people who've done a lot for the community. Happy Chuck and Patty are safe.
ReplyDeleteBurn baby burn. Disco inferno....
ReplyDeleteSucks about the fire. Glad no one died.
ReplyDeleteSo I tried to visit the Pitch's site just now...got a notice about the domain expiring. Someone wanna snap it up?
Polar bear also dry
ReplyDeleteThey need a Trolley going through Briarcliff. The overhead wires will also enhance the beauty of this exclusive neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteAnyone notice how nice and quite it is around here without that asshole Byron.
ReplyDeleteHi, bitch! How are you?
ReplyDeleteLooks like another bang up job by the losers at Local 42 and KCFD. Arrived on scene within 3 minutes according the tipster, but the house is a total fucking loss. They've demanded four firefighters per truck, but it certainly hasn't helped their performance. They're sure earning those fat pay raises they got last year. Maybe the city needs a pay for performance system for their union members? If so, several firefighters would be looking for work. Fortunately, the family got out safely, despite the total ineptitude of KCFD.
ReplyDeleteByrons avatar shows him wiping his ass. Wipe sniff wipe sniff wipe sniff wipe lick
ReplyDeleteWow, abandoned houses burn but rich people get 80 firefighters. That's KCMO more you.
ReplyDeleteFire investigation preliminary report lists the probable cause of the blaze as:
ReplyDelete...."Hundred-dollar bills used as kindling in the fireplace, left smoldering overnight."
Abandoned houses don't burn and there's no need to go to StL for fire footage. KCFD puts out 8 or 10 fires a day and very, very few of them result in total losses or teardowns. I've been a firefighter in northeast Johnson county for 15 years and have seen first hand how good KCFD is at fighting fires. They have a solid national reputation for bein aggressive and old school and good at house fires. A lot depends on construction materials (new houses like we have here in joco burn hotter and quicker and get dangerous sooner). The other factor is how far along the fire is when it gets called in. 3 minute response time doesn mean much if it was burning for 15 minutes before anyone called...
ReplyDeleteBut facts seem to have no place on this blog. Just spite and obsession.
945 = former mast supervisor
ReplyDeleteWhat the fuck does this have to do with the streetcar you fucking retard?
ReplyDeleteJesus Christ, you're pitiful.
Those damn fire fighters. Going to their fancy fires when the alarm sounds. Damn those tax payers when their homes are on fire. How dare those successful people ask for help. KC cares.
ReplyDelete@ 10:59 - First 8-10 fires a day? Bullshit! Even KCFD's padded stats don't support that claim. Second, "I've been a firefighter in northeast Johnson county for 15 years and have seen first hand how good KCFD is at fighting fires." - Right! Because a member of KCFD would never pat their own back in the manner you've suggested?
ReplyDeleteYou have to feel real sorry for the owners of a $5,000,000 house. Hope they could afford fire insurance. My whole neighborhood could fit inside that property.
ReplyDeleteNot easy being rich.
Hope Lisa Garney is ok.
ReplyDeleteFuck the 1%
ReplyDelete1:58 = mast loser.
ReplyDeleteNice surround and drown.
ReplyDeleteThat house was no worth anywhere near $5 million. It's been on the market for years for a lot less with no takers.
ReplyDeletehmm...I wonder why a house on the market that can't sell would burn down. It does seem very curious. Yes, curious.
ReplyDeleteim surprised Tony didn't hope for dead white people in this fire.
