TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! JACKSON COUNTY INSIDERS DOUBT COMMUTER RAIL 'VAPORWARE' BUT OPTIMISTS SAY TRAIL CONVERSION LIKELY!!!
Few people understood the specifics of a recent deal to by the OPTION to part of the old Rock Island line in Jackson County.
The move was touted as a "giant step forward" for local transit with little mention of a very recent FAIL from the County Exec to deliver on similar promises.
Moreover . . .
JACKSON COUNTY INSIDERS ARE SKEPTICAL OF THE COMMUTER RAIL PLAN AND CLAIM ITS SIMPLY ANOTHER BIT OF TRANSIT VAPORWARE FROM THE COUNTY EXECUTIVE!!!
Remember . . .
Vaporware is a term in the computer industry that describes a product, typically computer hardware or software, that is announced to the general public but is never actually released nor officially cancelled.
Moreover . . .
TKC EXCLUSIVE: THE PRESSER LISTED THE PURCHASE OF AN OPTION TO 19 MILES OF TRACK . . . UNFORTUNATELY . . . RIGHT NOW, FOR JACKSON COUNTY ONLY THE SMALLER 3.5 MI LINE IS ON THE TABLE!!!
We don't want to call it a "bait & switch" but the reality is that the press release copy is a lot more impressive than the reality of this deal and the FARAWAY possibility of commuter rail transit.
To be fair, there is a bright side to rail transit fail . . .
Bike/Walk advocates are making much more progress to convert part of this line to a pedestrian and cyclist trail with help from the County Exec's office. In fact, their plans follow recent Missouri efforts to re-purpose unused rail lines.
So, the County Exec might have actually stumbled into win when critics claim all that he really wanted to do was take attention away from election filing last week.
Nevertheless, it's important to remain skeptical of the JaxCo Exec Mike Sanders toy train because his rail hype has ALWAYS failed to live up to promises . . . Which still doesn't stop him from getting mileage out of every minor railroad presser.
Developing . . .
Mike needs to be more Sly than Sly.
ReplyDeleteThat's all I'm saying.
The devil is in the details and Mike always confuses the truth with a press release.
ReplyDeleteIt's never going to happen anyway
ReplyDeleteWe can only do one toy train at a time and think Slys plan is on track Samders loses
ReplyDeletePeople WALK in CK? For real?
ReplyDeleteIsn't that like walking in the JoCo, were even going to the bathroom requires using the Interstate?
The trail will work the train will not.
ReplyDeleteA politician not telling the truth I am shocked
ReplyDeleteWho is going to pay for this ,is it another tax ?
ReplyDeleteAren't there ANY of thee local elected types who are at least a little bit interested in making the governements they "lead" work for the people paying the bills?
ReplyDeleteHow about a decent property assessment system?
What about a more professional operation of the county court system?
Anyone for at least a little cost-effective oversight of the bloated COMBAT fiasco?
Stop buying grandiose ideas from every con artist who rolls through town and try doing your jobs.
...say insiders who do not exist
ReplyDeleteSo toy train is going to happen in Jackson county? Don't think so.
