Kansas City Toy Train Streetcar Stays Winning And Stealing Local Bus Money

Show-Me Blog documents Kansas City's screwed up priorities in motion: Kansas City’s Streetcar Continues To Undercut Busses

Comments

  1. The problem is that the proposed streetcar route is down Main and/or Brookside Blvd and/or the Trolley Trail.

The city bus often runs with only a few people on it, on Main south of Plaza.

The bus on Prospect often runs with standing room only.

But Prospect is not getting the streetcar, and apparently they are not easily getting more buses either.

    Fairness?

  2. The concept of routing a street car on Prospect or Troost was firmly repressed by the Mayor's Advisory Committee.

  4. None of these public transit routes or any of the proposals has anything to do with transportation. They have to do with promises in exchange for votes.
Folks in KCMO just can never figure out that when proposals are based on the "one for you and one for me" philosophy, it's just to get votes, after which the money is spent any way that the insiders and council want.
This game's been going on for a very long time, but pandering never goes out of style.
    All aboard.
