The Kansas City Star has been pushing local control of the KCPD as of late and firing off one attack against the Chief after the next.

For what it's worth . . . Kansas City Public Schools have readjusted their numbers and that has led to what might be a return to provisional accreditation . . . Yay!!! Meanwhile, an exodus from the district continues given the reality of failing school system.

These folks will do just about ANYTHING but actually undertake some serious aggressive policing on the east side and roll up the thugs.
And when the usual suspects yell racism and profiling, do just what Bloomberg did in New York when no lessor a light than Al Sharpton marched around criticizing the police.
He told him the he was more concerned about the law abiding people in those neighborhoods than he was about hurting the bangers feelings and that Sharpton could go take a hike.

Thats only part of the problem with crime in this city. Changes in policy pushed for by the city and some citiziens have made "aggressive police work" impossible for KCPD. Too much political correctness and fear of law suits have given criminals an upper hand.

After reading the Star's editorial I'm reminded of the SNL character who, during the 2008 election, repeatedly shouted "Fix it!" SNL is a comedy. Unless the Star wants to become one, too, let's hear some specific solutions.
ReplyDeleteWill Rogers used to say, "Everyone talks about the weather, but no one ever does anything about it." That's all the Star ever does about the murder rate. I won't take all this "ain't it awful" this talk seriously until I see some specific solutions.
I think every 5 homicide should be treated like weekend at Bernie's for three months. They will be considered alive until the end of the three month period. Really, I can't even come up with a creative way to make KC's dead people disappear. I like the new approach, Fuck it, we can't stop it so lets change the statistics.
