Dead Tree Media pretends to crunch numbers that pretty much confirm popular conceptions but don't really offer a new perspective: Last year, 75 percent of homicides, 71 percent of aggravated assaults, 74 percent of robberies and 62 percent of rapes occurred in that 34-square-mile area.

Oh, what a surprise!
ReplyDeleteYes, and the city spent $300 grand to have UMKC analysts tell them that the members of gangs know each other and are interconnected.
ReplyDeleteNow all that needs to be done is for the city to pay off the usual suspects on the east side to promise they won't accuse the police of racism and sur for millions when they do their jobs in that part of town and we'll be about ready to do what every other major city has done to greatly reduce violence and murders.
Have a much greater and sustained police presence in high-crime areas and roll up the thugs.
But in KCMO it's always get ready, get set, get set, get ready....
Time to GO.
I don't care about any of those statistics.
ReplyDeleteWhen's the next 5K run where they make me all colorful and rainbow-y afterwards?
What percentile of residents reside in this area?
ReplyDeleteWhat is the racial makeup of victims and perpetrators?
Now on to more important matters, like regulating guns on law abiding citizens.
When is the next demonstration against Nazis and George Zimmerman?
It's all right the toy train is groovy and everything is going to be alright.
ReplyDeleteYet when they increase patrols in that area and actually arrest the offenders they'll be called racist and calls for the police chief's head will be spouted by Alonzo....
ReplyDeleteA perfect example of why the Falling Star is a joke of a metropolitan newspaper. Anyone who doesn't live under a rock already knew what this "research" concluded.
ReplyDeleteToday the Star has an important research piece on Internet trolls that has been out for ages.

ReplyDeleteMaybe stop talk and ticket in this arae would work
ReplyDeleteI wish the Star would publish this article on the front page everyday. This problem will not go away until communities demand more of their own. This is not about dress codes at the P&L or curfews in the Plaza. This is about a community in our City that frankly has no respect or pride. We cannot save them...they can only save themselves.
ReplyDeleteBlack on Black crime. Whitey made them do it. They just don't know no better boss. They be animals.
