DAVE HELLING DRINKS THE DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY DEVELOPMENT KOOL-AID!!!

This isn't buzz it's more like capitulation . . . Somebody go take Dave Helling out to lunch and ask him if he's doing okay . . . In his latest report he's talking about being old as he gets all philosophical about the bright shining lie lights of Downtown Kansas City paid for with borrowed money and mountains of debt.

There's even mention of the toy train streetcar and the new airport scheme as if these pipe dreams are inevitable . . .

Meanwhile, most Kansas City Insiders realize that the so-called "progress" of Downtown Kansas City is mostly smoke and mirrors that doesn't make any financial sense.

Also, I want the b-ball team I was promised and not tickets to yet another Nickelback concert.

But I digress . . .

The point here is that illusion of a vibrant bustling Downtown Kansas City doesn't pay this town's bills and sooner or later when the check comes do . . . Local taxpayers are going to have to pay long after fickle party people decide on another hotspot that doesn't include racial disparity, date-rapists, hip-hop discrimination or yet another divorcée on the rebound and looking to make a bad decision.
